If you work in or / commute to NJ or NYC - this gem of a boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Newark is a must consider - it has the amenties you need, super easy to commute into/out of, has shuttle service, a restaurant but is also right be military park so you are close to restaurants / stores - all safe and you cannot beat the price - the accommodations are far superior to other hotels in NYC when you factor in price alone. Always my go to location

TRYP was a little bit more expensive than a regular motel or 2* but I was very impressed with my stay here. Firstly the location. 10min to Newark penn. close by to buses. Centrally located. If you don't mind the 30 min commute to New York Manhattan and can manage the confusing transit options, TRYP is definitely worth an option and you'll save a bit instead of staying in New York main stream. The facility was kept very clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Not a lot of restaurant options in the area..but I loved both my stays here, one was in a smaller room and the other one was big. Definitely recommend.

When I spoke to the owner, I was told that there was no reservation and that they have stopped making reservations with Booking.com months ago, yet I received confirmation, very confusing and not professional I was left to find a last minute room!

Honestly, I find Newark to be sketchy and not super safe.
Honestly, I find Newark to be sketchy and not super safe. I used to be a flight attendant based out of EWR 30 years ago and it hasn't changed. We went to the Prudential Center for a concert, so we were just in and out for one night. I wouldn't recommend vacationing here ever.
The hotel was clean and comfortable, the shuttle to and from the airport was very convenient and the breakfast was well above average for a free hotel breakfast. We have stayed here before and even though we flew into JFK this time we chose to catch the train from NYC to the Hampton at Newark Airport prior to hiring a car for a week and after returning the car rather than the hassle of driving in NYC. We will look to stay here every time we are in need of an airport hotel in the NYC area.
The staff were willing to assist. We arrived before check in but they were more than willing to keep our luggage until 3pm . We were thus able to go to town and back to check in. Even after checking out, they were willing to keep our luggage till we came back later than evening to leave for the airport. I recommend this hotel for anyone, traveling for leisure. It’s close to the Penn Station as well, affording easing transport to Manhattan.
I had an overnight layover in Newark on my way from Scotland to Los Angeles. This hotel was the perfect location for me. The shuttle was prompt and the driver courteous and helpful with my bags, both coming from and going to the airport. My room was clean and extremely spacious. The breakfast was good, and I was able to find some vegan options (although there could always be more). I would stay again.
Stayed in this hotel 2 times before and after a flight from Newark airport. They have a shuttle service and a good breakfast. Also the connection with Manhattan (Penn station) is good with a train connection from Newark airport. Which is better (more easy) then from JFK. Buy your ticket in the terminal to avoid waiting lines. (12 dollar senior). No airport noise.
I love this hotel. I live in Europe & my family is in LA. It's a brutal trip so I always stay a night or three in Newark. I have stayed here countless times & I always will! There is nothing negative to stay ever! The perfect hotel!
Location is good, close to Newark airport with a shuttle going every half hour. Going back to the airport in the morning was really fast since I left from Terminal A, which is the first stop. Room was clean with nice beds.
It was in a great area, close to the Jersey Garden Mall, there was a IHOP and Ruby Tuesday within walking distance from the Hotel, shuttle service to and from the airport, they also offered breakfast in the morning.
proximity to airport, so very good connectivity. Going to Penn Station in downtown NYC was quite a breeze, with a train station nearby to hotel, accessible by hotel shuttle and air train.
Rooms are big and relatively new. The staff members are very helpful and friendly. The ATM in the hotel was a plus. Not located far away from the airport nor the train station.
