Visited the aquarium which was very nice.
Visited the aquarium which was very nice. Did hour and half cruise from Beaufort to Moorehead. Very nice captain and deck hand. Saw dolphins at Ft Macon . The beach was not crowded . Ate at Cox's restaurant where the locals go. Food was good and reasonably priced. My husband loves Sanitary seafood restaurant and he said the shrimp and grits were excellent. I'm allergic to seafood so I had steak and it was perfectly cooked.

Beautiful beach with very nice accommodation but not overrun...
Beautiful beach with very nice accommodation but not overrun and not a big party town, which we enjoyed very much. Lots to see and do nearby and the whole area is very family friendly. This goes from nice state parks to a very nice aquarium that is only a short drive away. For us, the main attraction was the beach and the ocean, which we enjoyed daily while there. Local fish and seafood is served in many restaurants in the area and tastes great. We plan to go back!

I use to own a timeshare here but gave it up due to ridiculous extra fees then kept adding on but wanted to visit one more time. Boy was that a mistake. They have really let the housekeeping & lawn care go down hill really bad. Would not recommend this place . Atlantic Beach is a great Beach town.
Atlantic Beach is a great Beach town. There are easy public access points. Fort Macon is also a fun place to visit and has access to the beach. Our favorite restaurant there is the Shark Shack! Be aware it is closed on Sunday and Monday. Those were the days we were there last, so we missed eating there on this trip. We just need to go back. The "vibe" at Atlantic Beach is family-friendly and welcoming. There is just enough "to do" without having so much that it becomes a distraction from the beach. Can't wait to return!

Atlantic Beach is beautiful.
Atlantic Beach is beautiful. The beaches are nice and clean, with plenty of seashells to go around. We stayed at the DoubleTree Hotel, we drive to places for the most part, but you can walk to stores nearby such as Dairy Queen and Dollar General. There's also a town park with a playground and splash pad for the little ones. Within that park there's also a mini golf place. We also went to the Atlantic Beach boardwalk, much smaller than what I expected but it's also a beach with volleyball nets and showers to rinse off the sand from your body. I loved staying in the location and at Atlantic Beach. Our favorite restaurants were Clawsons, The Sanitary(?) (they had the best pasta and fish ever!), and another place I cannot remember. If you go to Clawsons, get the turkey and cranberry sandwich. Its amazing! Also, their broccoli salad is TO DIE FOR! Outside pool area was very nice & staff was friendly. Love the dock. Looks like you are working on a lot of new additions, like pool umbrellas & chairs. I loved seeing people working to improve the property. Lobby is beautiful.
