Basic, somewhat Spartan accommodations in an older building.
Basic, somewhat Spartan accommodations in an older building.. Quiet, with few other guests. Cordial staff. Everything worked OK, but the stairs to my room were steep and narrow. Very nice front porch for sitting and conversation, on site parking, easy walk into center of Montpelier. Restaurant was closed during my visit.

We travel to Montpelier to visit family, mostly in the late summer. the green mountains and quaint New England vibe mixed with the local college scene is always pleasing to the eye and comforting to the soul. In the autumn you can see the leaves changing color as they grow up the mountain. Everyone is friendly and smiling in town.

We were in VT to visit the Barre quarry, VT Granite Museum, and to see Hope Cemetery. This made a beautiful place to stay and be close to those sites. If we had more time, we wold have visited historical places in and around Montpelier.

Montpelier has many interesting and quirky shops.
Montpelier has many interesting and quirky shops. My visit to the Vermont Historical Society Museum was very informative and enjoyable. It was also very hands on and kid-friendly. The Saturday Farmer's Market was excellent. The 4-H club brought two heifers - June and Fancy!
The staff in the breakfast venue were very nice. The coffee there was good, but I reported the coffee maker in my room as broken the first morning and it stayed broken. I liked the little exercise room. I liked the shower and the bed. The microwave worked. When the coffee maker didn't work I took the every present cup of coffee in the lounge the night before and heated it up in the morning by microwave. It tasted kind of bad, but at least got me going. All the people at the front desk were enjoyable.
This was a beautiful location. Off the deck was a lovely garden and fields. We watched lots of birds; humming birds, goldfinch and cardinals being my favorite. The house was perfect and spotless clean with lots of nice amenities, the hosts were very friendly and helpful, the location was very convenient to Montpelier downtown and Barre. It was very peaceful and comfortable. We loved staying here. We will definitely stay here again!
The hotel does look great from the outside and is well located in the city. We managed to get free parking inside the hotel area and the wifi was strong. Our room was fine and a fair size with a big and comfy bed and had a big window which made it light and airy. The bathroom was also fine with a nice strong shower. The room was all very clean. We didn't expect breakfast, but a snack breakfast was provided.
The Hotel has a very old style and looks without looking outdated or shabby. seem well maintained without losing the charm. The bed was clean and comfortable. the bathroom was good sized with a heat lamp to stay warm after a shower. There were places to sit in the room.
The host was very welcoming and friendly. The room was actually like an apartment and very nicely appointed. Everything was very clean. Downtown Montpelier was a 3 minute drive away. The host gave us great tips on nearby swimming holes and fun places to visit.
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location. We were just passing through town and staying only one night, so it was really convenient to be right in the middle of town. There's a big public parking lot with lots of spaces behind the hotel.
The hotel has definitely seen some improvements since my last stay. The decor in the room was tasteful, the beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was quite pleasant. The room was well-designed for a good night's sleep.
Good breakfast with selection of cold and hot items. The light snacks in the lobby were greatly appreciated after a long drive. We also appreciated the very welcoming service. Overall, a great hotel.
Beautiful property w 25 acres and trail in hills outside Montpelier. Lovely 2BR with many small touches to show the care, items in fridge, fresh flowers, poems throughout, books, cds, games,
The hotel was right in the historic city center, close to great eateries and shops. The staff was also friendly and helpful, and kindly arranged a ride to the train station in the morning.
You get what you pay for. This hotel is for traveling contractors and probably emergency housing for homeless. I felt safe though, and I knew it was going to be just a place to crash.
We were traveling back to Vermont to close on our home( selling) and sadly moving . It was a treat to stay at the Inn at Montpelier after catering there for many years.
Continental breakfast had good choices. Location was good as within walking distance to capital and good tap room/restaurant (which also was very good).
