Mitzpe Ramon is magical.
Mitzpe Ramon is magical. You can enjoy a different view depending on the time of day. Make sure you get to see the sunset on the promenade and watch the mountains change colors. There are many trails - the easiest is to walk along the promenade. If you want to hike, make sure you take plenty of water and a good trail map. You can get info at the visitors center - which is well worth visiting. They have a lovely light show exhibition that explains how this erosion crater "machtesh" was formed. The crater is a geological wonder. It is also fun to see the ibexes (mountain goats) walking down the streets of the city.

The natural desert scenery is amazing, especially from the cliff top where the Ramon Crater begins. Herds of gazelles stroll through the town. There are a few chic eateries e.g. in the Spice Quarter. We often eat at Mauna, in the main shopping centre: it's vegan, with a limited menu, but the food is delicious. Driving In Mitzpe Ramon is easy, but most places are walkable. There are many spots to hike and visit, or having a stroll along the cliffs with stunning views. Loved the stargazing in the crater with Ira the Starman- highly recommend this. A visit to the Alpaca Farm and to Nana Vineyard were very enjoyable. The visitor center presentation together with the Ilan Ramon exhibit had a huge emotional impact. Artist Colony/local crafts shops in the "Industrial Zone" were amazing A well balanced blend of activity, quiet and night life. Car is a must for quick easy access to all sites. Ultra and Levi's were our favorite restaurants. Be sure to check hours and if reservations are needed for events
