Was quite surprised by the wine tasting opportunities nearby in Calitzdorp. The Safari Ranch was great, Cango Wildlife Park was exceptional, excellent managed facility. The Buffelsdrift Game Lodge elephant experience was a bucket list type experience. The Chandelier Game Lodge Buffalo as well as Giraffe experience was awesome.
The Total Garage opposite the quaint Nostalgia Restaurant are friendly and have decent wood that is affordable. The Spar is well stocked and there is an emergency Clicks Pharmacy that supports that requirement.
All and all a pleasant holiday destination with many activities to plan over the course of a week visit.

Cango Caves - do the adventure tour.
Cango Caves - do the adventure tour. Conservation Centre - as ethical as sanctuaries open to the public can be, see a huge range of animals. Meerkat Tours - fun and cute but quite overpriced and the owner is horrendously misogynistic. Nostalgie restaurant - food was amazing, however park immediately in front of the restaurant and not any further - there are 'parking attendants' that demand money, and even after paying one the others come and intimidate you (banging on the car and throwing gun symbols).

Perfect place to stop over for the night or two.
Perfect place to stop over for the night or two. Other than that there is not much to do here.
You can find big supermarket for every day shopping. We eat at hotel restaurant as not much choice. A lot of powerful like in most places in SA, just got to be careful where and when you go out.

What a lovely clean and friendly town with a lot to offer.
What a lovely clean and friendly town with a lot to offer. We went for a lovely wine pairing and pizzas at Karusa winery and also drove on the gravel road from Oudtshoorn to De Rust past the beautiful Rustica Olive Farm.

Such a quaint little town with lots of character and sights to see. We definitely need more time to explore! It is well worth a visit and the drive from the Western Cape on the R62 is the most beautiful drive ever!
Honestly, everything! Our hosts couldn’t be more accommodating and absolutely set the standard for guesthouse accommodation. It’s really above that. They’re not a hotel but would put plenty of 5* hotels to shame. If you want to stay in Oudtshoorn (and it’s well worth diverting from the garden route) then this is a great choice. Food recommendations were also spot on, both locally and also many hours away. Massive thumbs up! 100% recommend the meerkats too!
We booked accommodation at Berluda Farm at the last minute and the host went out of her way to accommodate us. The cottage which we were allocated was clean and well appointed. The farm is situated in a very scenic part of the greater Oudtshoorn area and we had great views of the mountains from our verandah. I highly recommend the property to anybody seeking an overnight stop in the greater Oudtshoorn area.
The scenery is mind blowing and the staff exceptional. Our rooms was perfect, it actually felt like a 5 star hotel room. Perfect place for kids, my family really enjoyed the restaurant with the park and the zip lining;not to mention the feeding of the rabbits and the other farm animals was lovely. Will definitely be back keep up the good work old mill team and definitely keep my room on ice.
The first room we were given was not up to the standard we were expecting. We asked to change but we’re told the hotel was fully booked. They did however move us for our second night and the room was much better.
Breakfast here is good with a huge amount of choice.
There are two pools at the hotel both of which have beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
The property was situated in a very decent area, it is very quiet and peacefully and a wonderful place to unwind from the hustle and bustle of the city. The little extras that owner added made one feel so special. I would highly recommend this property in Oudtshoorn, it was a absolute pleasure staying there and I would definately stay there again.
Anita is an exceptional and welcoming host. We loved staying there. The settings are idle and peaceful with springboks in view and the birds having a party in the trees, It was a very good experience and will definately stay there again and recommend this property for stays in Oudtshoorn.
Great old historical hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast staff. They provided great service and extra info on places to visit around Oudtshoorn. The pool was welcoming and great to cool down in the summer heat. Comfortable beds.
We love everything our accommodation was the best the staff and managers was like family. I would definitely recommend Cango Rest to everyone. My next trip to Oudtshoorn I would definitely stay at Cango Rest again. See you soon. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.
We attended the Klein-Karoo Klassique Festival. The hotel location was excellent - a very short walking distance to the venue. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean & comfortable. We had a lovely breakfast and enjoyed the stay.
Stunning property with all you need for your self catering stay with some added extras. Well designed and a lovely garden with springbok roaming around. You can wake up to the roar of lion from the Karoo Wild Life Ranch situated across the river.
It was specious and fairly clean with relatively good self catering facilities. The most positive thing is that they have an inverter installed for load shedding periods. Kudos for this.
The self catering apartment is huge. stove, fridge , gas shower, very comfortable and the best is the friendly host Tania and Michael and their son Thomas . great parking inside.
The courteous staff at reception and the restaurant were very helpful in making our stay comfortable. One of the nicer perks the hotel offered was a free car wash.
We opted for self catering, but the menu and dining area looked superb! Also hosts were super helpful and gave great tips on how to enjoy Oudtshoorn area.
