My visit to Panama City was rather disappointing. The historic gem of the Old Town, known as Casco Viejo, has the potential for charm, yet its allure remains obscured by neglect. On the other hand, the new district resonates with cacophonous traffic, devoid of the soothing touch of greenery. Despite earnest attempts to awe with monumental modern architecture, their discordance with the Central American landscape is simply wrong.
Furthermore, for those with a discerning palate, the local culinary scene proves very poor and exorbitantly priced for the lackluster offerings it presents.

This is a big city displaying both the ultra modern and the old. As with most large cities, traffic is often heavy and slow. Curving and one way streets can be confusing to visitors. Fortunately, there is a modern clean metro system and buses.
We enjoy visiting the revitalized old quarter. It combines interesting colonial architecture with coffee shops and restaurants.

Panama City looks like any metropolitan city with tall...
Panama City looks like any metropolitan city with tall beautiful buildings and lots of nature. We stayed just south of there in Casco Viejo. It was like going back in time. The UNESCO heritage site doesn’t disappoint. Lots of roof top bars & restaurants as well as architecture preserved and brought back to life with modern conveniences. You can walk everywhere there and police are in every corner. The president has his home in Casco, so very protected area. The locals don’t beg or bother you when you walk around. We stayed across from the section that has not been renovated yet and on the weekends they play very loud music, which didn’t bother us as we liked what they were playing. From the balcony we could see the boats lining up for the canal entrance. The Airbnb is called La Cuadra. There’s a pool on the 5th floor with panoramic views but no umbrellas to sit under which was a bummer for me since I’ve had melanoma, so I used to go later in the afternoon. You should watch the sunset from there! 24 hour security & elevators to rooms but 1 flight of stairs to get to the pool. We ate at Tantalo down stairs & then we went to the rooftop bar and people were having so much fun and so friendly. They wanted us to dance w them!! We ate at Snack Shack, the restaurant below La Cuadra and the Santurian at hotel La Compañía everywhere we ate was excellent. Can't wait to go back! Everyone says hello, buenos días, etc. The people we interacted with were very kind and helpful. There’s a sense of community that is hard to find in todays USA.

The otherwise historic and visitor friendly town we stayed...
The otherwise historic and visitor friendly town we stayed in (and home to the presidential palace) had many crumbling buildings in desperate need of repair or to be demolished.
Some looked like parts of buildings could practically fall into the streets and would be considered a public safety hazard. I did not expect this in a country that boasted a modern city, minutes away, that could rival most cities in North America. Clearly their money is not going into the pockets of public works employees.
We met many friendly locals and enjoyed hearing the stories of their lives there. They seemed quite tolerant of us imposing visitors and our lack of spanish. They often apologized for their limited english but frankly, it's embarrassing that I make such a minimal effort and made that clear while thanking them for their much appreciated effort. The old town of Casco Viejo was easy walking and well situated for access to the two major airports. The beautiful bougainvilleas, practically growing out of the pavement are quite impressive along with the other flowering trees. A lucky tip from a tourist directed us to a Peruvian seafood restaurant we thoroughly enjoyed called Nazcar21. It was remarkably reasonable for nearly "fine dining" quality of food and pleasant atmosphere. Overall, Casco Viejo is an interesting stop over while touring Panama, particularly if you've come to get away from big cities, learn about Panama's heritage and meet friendly people that seem to enjoy sharing their brief time with you.

Panama City is a vibrant and modern yet historic location...
Panama City is a vibrant and modern yet historic location with a wide variety of attractions, amenities and areas of interest. Food is readily available at all levels - snacks, fast food, Caféteria, pub, restaurant, fine dining -- and generally inexpensive. Public transit is clean and relatively easy to navigate, and locals are polite and helpful. In multiple visits, including solo explorations, I have never felt unsafe.
Location was great, hotel room was clean and comfy, the gym hall was full of good stuff, besides you had on the opposite side of the hotel a true gem of a café-bakery - Toño's - or, if you prefer well established chains you could go just 1 minute to PAUL's, C. 50 Panama City for an equally pleasant experience.
Among so many attractive stays in Panama City we have chosen this particular hotel for a totally particular reason: it has BALCONIES, and you can escape the terrible American habit of letting air in only via AC systems!!
This was our 3rd room in this hotel during our stay in Panama City. The room had great external-facing windows so lots of natural light. It was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and the room had a small fridge. The bathroom was also a good size and there was good water pressure. The air con and wifi were very good. There is a communal kitchen that is well stocked and provides flexibility for those who want to get some groceries and/or cook simple meals for breakfast and lunch. Highly recommend.
Las Clemintinas is a great place to stay in Panama City. Located in the Casco Viejo, you can walk the old neighborhoods right out of the door. There is a great, vibey restaurant and courtyard as part of the hotel to hang out and grab a drink in. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Check-in with the staff was easy and they were knowledgeable of the area with recommendations. Overall, I would recommend staying here and would stay here again myself.
Many thanks for exceptional service to Ana at the front desk. She got me an early check in, exchanged larger currency and was able to set up my phones and computer for hotel WiFi. Also prompt and reliable taxi service with Jose:+507-6426-7543 who really knows his way around Panama City and is available for charter to other areas of Panama. The last digits of his vehicle: 0575. The breakfast was the best I have ever had. Not to be missed!!
Amazing hostel. Very modern, felt like more of a home. The guy had music playing, was very easy going, and the pool with trees and grass and chairs made it feel like more of a backyard than a hotel swimming pool. This is a hidden gem in panama city. For the price I payed, and the neighbourhood you're in, wow! To feel like I'm in a home instead of a hostel with a pool, I'd highly recommend this place.
Good location in the center of Panama City. Free private parking was a great perk. The hotel does not have a restaurant but is adjacent to an Asian/Sushi restaurant which is very good and a convenience store next door for snacks and coffee. Nice and comfortable clean rooms and friendly, helpful staff. They also have a small pool area which is a nice feature. Excellent value for the money!
Although not ordinarily larger hotel and/or hotel chain fans the Tryp by Wyndham suited us perfectly for our time in Panama City. Spacious king room, views over the city skyline, attentive room service (though we had to ask daily at Reception for bottled water to be replaced). Fabulous sleep in the big king bed. Transport, restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Great location, beautiful room, very friendly and helpful staff. if you’re coming to Panama City, you want to stay in the old town. much more interesting than the sterile downtown. Hotel is virtually right on the water with good restaurants all around. would return in a heartbeat!
We were flying out of the smaller Panama City airport and the hotel is 5 min from there. So the location was perfect for us. Staff was very friendly. Rooms had a slight musty smell. Breakfast was ok- nothing great. But overall the hotel was great.
Location Is great, Is it close to the best beaches which were always empty. The room size was good enough. AC worked well, the view from the room was great. The staff was very limited during our stay but Tayrel took care of everything we needed.
Everything, I have lived in Panama for over 7 years, I have used the hotel for 7 years, the company I work for we have a corporate rate, I have stayed at many hotels in Panama city, the breakfast selection, service is the best in the city.
One of the cheapest Hostels you can find in Panama City. There is big supermarket right next to it. You’ll have your own little capsule and a big kitchen. We actually ended up staying 4 nights and organised a San Blas tour with them.
Very good value for money hotel in Panama City. It is really clean, the rooms are big and the wifi is fast. There are many bars & restaurants around. Very nice and safe area. We booked this place 2 times.
This is more than a container hotel. The hotel is very comfy, located at the centre of the Panama City. The hotel representatives are super helpful. I really recommend staying at this hotel in Panama.
