Known as the "Jewel Box", Dresden is a stunning German city with rich history, an important classical music scene, and an unforgettable Baroque and Rococo-inspired city center.
Located on the banks of the Elbe River, the whole city was destroyed during World War II, but has now been rebuilt into one of the most interesting places in Europe. Dresden city itself is also interesting but I alredy been there so this time I went to hiking to Saxon Switzerland National park. Next day I went to Meissen, everything was easy approachable with S bahn. I recommend to visit this Nathional park and maybe you can extend to Czech Republic.

Dresden’s history is mind boggling.
Dresden’s history is mind boggling. There are so many areas worth exploring, both within the city and on the outskirts. Rapid transit is easy to negotiate.
Dresden was certainly the cultural Center of Germany and, despite being bombed at the end of WW2, the resilience of Dresdeners helped restore a unique city.

Dresden has obviously much to offer in terms of history, with its many museums or locations that have something to tell about it. Like the Semper Oper, which offers guided tours - also for kids (I would recommend for families); Zwinger with its science exebition; beautiful rebuild Frauenkirche with its catacombs etc.
But also "die Neustadt" with many culinary restos, the art district, the Elbufer - especially in summer. As well as the many hiking trails, Bastei Bridge, many castles like Moritzburg or Königstein Fortress (take at least 5h for that. it also hold a museum)
There were many more things to see, which we could not cover. So, a good reason to go back soon.

Although I have travelled to other parts of Germany, I had never seen Dresden. It is a remarkable city! I parked at the underground garage at the Frauenkirche, which was centrally located to many of the points of interest. I visited the Fuerstenzug, which is the Procession of Princes, created on tiles. So impressive! I toured the Palace. Make sure you get the complete ticket that takes you through the Green Vault. Amazing jewelry and priceless artifacts. Walking around, it's architectural overload! Also, don't miss going into Camondas Chocolate Store!

You can never get enough of Dresden.
You can never get enough of Dresden. No matter what is the reason of your visit - there is always something that will make you return. For the obvious - Old Town, Frauenkirche, Zwinger, SemperOper…. but crossing the bridge you can explore totally different town. Try to check Pfunds Molkerei to taste local cheese… Or take a ride on the steamboat - either to visit Meissen or Pilnitz castle… and so much more.

In Albertinum museum at entry doors there were no signs where to head to get to the tickets purchasing area, and there was one guy keeping eye on everybody entering the museum giving directions where to go, unfortunately I already climbed leading to him stairs and my fall was long, painful, and bloody. I am sure I was not the first and most likely not the last one keeping close contact with Albertinum floor. Placing just sign explaining the direction would prevent serious injury to other art lovers.
We loved everything about this hotel! The location, staff, breakfast, bar, spa, and convenient parking. Our room was spacious and nicely appointed with a comfortable bed and an excellent shower. The location was perfect for taking in the sights of the old town and river. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff were exceptional during our entire stay. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. If we ever make it back to Dresden, we will stay at this hotel!
Within a short walking distance from the Old town. Very clean, spacious, pleasant rooms (at least in the Apartment, which is good for family of 3 or 4). Welcoming and attentive staff (everyone who we met - from the receptionists to breakfast ladies to cleaning ladies), speaking good English which was a rarity during our trip in Germany.
Decent brakfast for different tastes.
I definitely recommend this hotel.
And note- car parking on the street is cheaper than in the nearby parking lots.
This apartment is located in a safe and quiet neighborhood near the old town. It has two bedrooms, two baths, two balconies, a living area, a dining area, and a well-equipped kitchen. All facilities work well (I mean “real” electronic cook top, refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, etc). A couple or a small family can easily reside here comfortably for a long stay.
We had a good time at Dresden, and the apartment was certainly one of the key reasons.
The reception was very close to the Apartment hotel and it was easy to collect the room keys from there.
The host also explained more information while doing check-in.
The location is exceptionally good for walking around the old city center of Dresden.
The host runs the souvenir shop and offers special prices for the guests and also very friendly and kind!
Beautiful property, friendly staff, centrally located. We’ve stayed in a few hotels in downtown Dresden and this one is the best for cleanliness, modernization, and views of the church. Things that are “extra” at other hotels in the area were included here. If you’re considering this hotel versus others around Frauenkirche, this is the one to choose!
Great great location, convenient both to reach the old town/ Zwinger or the train main station. Nice staff, nicely equipped hotel. Got upgrade for a bigger and very nice room, however the open bathroom wasn’t the best for us, as I was traveling with a friend/ colleague:) Comfortable beds. Feels like 4star hotel for sure.
Fantastic location, wonderful staff. It was my first time in Dresden and there was preparations for Christmasmarkt, so entry to the hotel parking was directed to a secondary entrance. The young gentleman in the lobby was kind enough to come with me in my car and show me the way.
Well beyond the expectations, the room and the whole hotel were cozy and clean, there was a private parking inside, the area was really nice, close to a lot of restaurants and with the Dresden city centre at walking distance, and also my dog was very welcome. Recommended.
Clean, tidy Ibis hotel, short walk from the main railway station. We had a late arrival time so having 24-hiur check in really helpful. Breakfast was good. Helpful to be able to leave our luggage after check out. Within walking distance of the main sights of Dresden.
Good and friendly hotel in Neustadt, the area where the nice restaurants and bars are. In walking distance of Dresden Altstadt. Also nearby bahnhof Dresden Neustadt, from where you can make trips outside Dresden. The swimming pool was a luxury to have in the morning.
It is very affordable, basic hotel. It is clean ans good for short time. But it is very soviet style atmosphere- which is something i did not expect in Germany. The people were nice, but the process of check in check out is manual so not very efficient
Ideal vor visiting Dresden. Good location, not too far from the city and close to tram station (tram 7 will get you to city center, tickets available at ticket machine, across the street of hotel)
Parking available in undergound or on the street.
The hotel is located near the Neustadt in Dresden. In 10 min walking distance you'll find plenty of restaurants and bars in this wonderful district. If you arrive by car you'll find parking spots on the street wich are for free
The staff at Hotel Kipping is incredible! They provided support for everything we needed. The breakfast was one of the best we've had at a hotel/restaurant in Germany. Would stay here again!
Very nice hotel, good location within 1 km to old town of Dresden, clean rooms, comfortable beds, superb breakfast, polute staff, easily accessible underground parking, would recommend!
