Halle is quite an attractive city with lots of old style buildings and cobbled streets. However it lacks atmosphere and is quite a boring place. We were visiting my daughter who is currently based there working so we had a good time, but it's not a place I would go back to apart from to visit her, and I wouldn't recommend it.

Such an interesting city!
Such an interesting city! Two castles, an interesting bar/pub/cafe scene, you can feel the energy and buzz from the young people around the university and art school. Great public transport, a lot of history, and also a wealth of public green areas. The Saale valley is lovely for walks, canoing and boat trips and makes you forget the city with its attractions is just a few steps away.

Halle is a cute little city, with a really nice old town.
Halle is a cute little city, with a really nice old town. It has a good transport system, with plenty of cafes and cosy bars, and shops. There are also plenty of nice parks to visit. It also has a good music scene for alternative music.

Beautiful!
Beautiful! Absolutely not what you would expect from East Germany. The level of English is not the same as in West Germany or Berlin, but enough of the staff have functional use, or are extremely pleasant and patient to explain things without words. Watch out for the bikes!
Eat at the Schnitzel only restaurant. :D Just Google it... easy to find. Fabulous.

Enjoyable city with great market place.
Enjoyable city with great market place. City has evolved a lot over the years. I know it from 1990 East Germany times-it was very grey and run down. Since then its looks improved a lot and is on way to becoming a vibrant small town near Leipzig. Street tram ist great. Walking is great too-it is easy to get around Halle an der Saale.
Leopoldina is worth a visit.

I moved to Halle for work so stayed at Villa Mathilda for a month while searching for a flat, and it was fantastic. I booked a double room (so used the communal kitchen) and the value for money was superb. The hotel is less than 5 mins walk from a supermarket and tram stop (less than 15 mins tram journey to Halle’s main square) which allows you to be flexible and independent. I would recommend Villa Mathilda to anyone looking for somewhere cheap and convenient, but also very comfortable to stay in Halle.
The guest house is situated at the Wineberg Campus, in front of the University Hospital. A very nice Bauhaus architecture. It seems like they transformed it from a former clinic. They kept the concept. It was really nice staying there. Compared to the city hotels I accommodated in Halle, this one was more comfortable. A very nice garden.
The staff is serving remote but I received sufficient information.
The internet was actually pretty fast and reliable, when we stayed here the weather was really hot and they provided a fan that came in handy. They let us store our bikes in a safe place inside the hotel, free of cost and without any problems. I think for the price it is a great option.
I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location couldn't be better – it's conveniently close to both the tram stop and a supermarket, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city and picking up any essentials.
Friendly staff and cleanness.
We got free tickets for public transport during our stay. There are supermarkets clos to the hotel even late at night. There is a tram station directly in front of the hotel.
The room is really cozy, fully furnished and clean. The location is not too hard to find. I think the beds are comfy to most of people. The price is affordable and the hotel is located in the city center.
This hotel offers a great breakfast variety. The rooms are small but clean and the bathroom is in good shape with decent water pressure. It is also convenient located near the train station.
Comfortable room and the staff were lovely. A short walk into town and the area itself is nice, a nice square with benches in front of the hotel. Breakfast was decent, good coffee.
The staff at the front desk was suberb making my stay pleasant. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. I will defintely book a room in this hotel next time I visit Halle.
Parking at hotel (if it is full, there is a big paid parking next to the hotel).
Very friendly staff.
Authentic fachwerk atmosphere in rooms at top floor.
This was a great stay in a very nice old-fashioned hotel close to the downtown. Our room was perfectly clean. Friendly stuff at the reception. Good breakfast
