Take the chair lift up the side of the wine Vinyard and try the Sommerrodelbahn "Saar-Rodel". There is a wonderful restaurant up there with amazing food. The whole family loved to do the ride. 20 euro got us 10 rides on it. Good value.
The Saarburg castle is across the street from the chair lift and provides wonderful views of the Saar River and the Saar Valley. Definitely worth the walk up.

Situated in a pretty river valley with great road, rail and river access to Saaburg. Its the location with great heritage buildings and very quaint shopping opportunities. It is easy to access to local restaurants by walking from hotel and more outlying tourist places by car and within reasonable access in Germany and across the borders to Belgium, France and Luxembourg for more things to enjoy.

My daughter insisted climbing to the top of the vineyard after a long and tired walk around the town and castle. There she found the sommerroadelbahn and did it three times, each only 2.5 euro and quick queue. And we came down by cable. If you want to challenge your young kids and give them surprise, then keep sommerroadelbahn a secret and encourage them to climb to the top of the vineyard. Also you see more of the Saar River and more villages/towns from the top. Splendid!
The hotel is in an old house across the river from town. There was plenty of parking. From our room we had a view of the river and castle. The room was spacious and had a separate sitting area. It was on the second floor and there was no elevator. Check in was easy. Breakfast was typical European with cheeses, meats, eggs, fruit, cereals, juices, etc.
Small room, but comfortable. Bathroom ok, but toilet rather close to washing basin.
Breakfast was ample, eggs and bacon on demand, tasty bread.
Good restaurant downstairs. Friendly service.
Very quiet neighbourhood.
Close to everything in Saarburg, about 15 minutes walking from train station.
Wonderful hotel with real hospitality from the owners. All things where dealt immidiately and the espresso in morning was excellent
Unfortunately did their restaurant had ruhtag for the days we stayed. Pity because it was one of the things we look forward to. However thats life.
The very best location! Saarburg itself great place to visit with family, on the wine route, with very nice fortress, amazing scenery. Hotel is located at the very centre of Saarburg, directly on the river and waterfall.
Staff is very friendly, helped to arrange parking.
Accommodation is in absolute mint condition on a very nice location, ample space in a quiet corner of Saarburg, but still close to the city.
In short: do not know what else to expect.
Very great value for money
I liked everything:
