Take the chair lift up the side of the wine Vinyard and try the Sommerrodelbahn "Saar-Rodel". There is a wonderful restaurant up there with amazing food. The whole family loved to do the ride. 20 euro got us 10 rides on it. Good value. The Saarburg castle is across the street from the chair lift and provides wonderful views of the Saar River and the Saar Valley. Situated in a pretty river valley with great road, rail and river access to Saaburg. Its the location with great heritage buildings and very quaint shopping opportunities. It is easy to access to local restaurants by walking from hotel and more outlying tourist places by car and within reasonable access in Germany and across the borders to Belgium, France and Luxembourg for more things to enjoy.SuperMacxAustralia - 10Scored 10
My daughter insisted climbing to the top of the vineyard...
My daughter insisted climbing to the top of the vineyard after a long and tired walk around the town and castle. There she found the sommerroadelbahn and did it three times, each only 2.5 euro and quick queue. And we came down by cable. If you want to challenge your young kids and give them surprise, then keep sommerroadelbahn a secret and encourage them to climb to the top of the vineyard. Also you see more of the Saar River and more villages/towns from the top. Splendid!LingfangNetherlands

The room was spacious and had a separate sitting area. It was on the second floor and there was no elevator. Check in was easy. Breakfast was typical European with cheeses, meats, eggs, fruit, cereals, juices, etc.
