We were a bit puzzled by this place. The town is extremely picturesque with beautiful houses and little laneways. It seems the perfect location for cafes and little craft or artshops, but there’s nothing there of that kind and the town felt a bit lifeless to be honest.

We only spent one evening in Schiltach, walking around, visiting the historical museum, and eating at a gourmet restaurant, so I cannot say much about activities. We have a tight schedule, so the time we spent was good for us. But I would have been happy to have another day to enjoy the place and visit more of the museums, which are small but free of charge.

It's a lovely small village without all the oversea tourists. Not a lot in English but everyone was helpful. The use of a Konos card for free public transport for the area was great as we didn't have a car.

Schiltach is a stunningly beautiful and charming little town. From here you can get to Europa-Park, Strasbourg or Baden-Baden within an hour or two on the train, or hike in the black forest. By far, the best thing to do here is the Hirschgrund Zipline. Everyone in this town is extremely friendly and make it a pleasant and relaxing place to visit.

What a lovely find this area was.
What a lovely find this area was. It was the only place we stayed 2 nights on our Europe travels. Fabulous outdoor swimming pool nearby and plenty of other places to visit that we still didn't have time for. We did go to Aquademie at the Hansgrohe (showers and taps) factory in the village. An unusually great free place to visit and test out all those different shower head flows!
The village has still retained its wonderful German character with amazing buildings - just don't tell everyone as we don't want too many tourists to find out! We'll be back!
The hotel is a beautiful, four hundred year old building in a village of that era, with many other restored homes. The setting is one of great natural beauty close to many locations to explore. The room itself was remodeled and updated with modern comforts, large and very clean. There were fresh tulips in a vase! Best yet, we had an outstanding dinner artfully presented in the hotel restaurant downstairs. The owner was warm and accommodating. We couldn't have asked for more!
The Adler is an historic yet recently updated hotel. It is clean, tastefully decorated, and well-cared for. Our room was large, very comfortable and clean. We loved all the windows and the natrual light. The room rate included breakfast which was freshly prepared each morning. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent--the chef is creative and the food was fresh and delicious. The proprietors were friendly, responsive, helpful, and interested in ensuring we had a pleasant stay.
Lovely traditional guest house in stunning location overlooking the cobbled market square (which is utterly un-buggy and wheelchair friendly by the way!). The dinner menu was limited, but it was still the best (well, the only, really) option in town. The three burgers we had were fabulous - homemade and absolutely delicious. Schiltach is beautiful - well worth a few hours or an overnight stay.
The hotel is beautiful, modern renovation but in keeping with the overall style. Our room was fantastic, large, comfortable and clean. You can unload your car right in front of the hotel and then park in the nearby public carpark, so it’s suitable for people who travel by car. Managers/owners very friendly and helpful. I fully recommend to book the restaurant, the food is fantastic.
The location was perfect, right in the heart of the old village. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful. We had an excellent dinner in their restaurant and an excellent a la carte breakfast which was included in the room price. In this day and age it is wonderful to stay at a family owned small hotel restaurant where they get it all right!
Beautiful, spacious rural apartment in the Black Forest region where it was easy to relax and unwind. There is a lovely deck with sweeping views. The well stocked kitchenette allowed us to prepare a meal or two in. The bathroom shower was amazing. We walked to Schiltach via forest paths in ~1 hour with options for extended hiking if you please.
Fantastic, modern hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Very welcoming owners! No on-site parking, but street parking spaces are available for free behind the inn. The chef at the hotels' in-house restaurant is truly spectacular. Food is thoughtfully and creatively prepared. Best meal we've had in four years of living in Germany! Highly recommend!
The location is really nice - not in the town center, but not too far away from it. Therefore, you don't have a lot of noise from the area. In addition, the facilities inside the property were also very nice. All in all, a very nice place to stay. I would go back if I were to stay in Schiltach.
A large, comfortable, modern, well-equipped room and an excellent breakfast. The location in the heart of the village is excellent. The hotel has only recently changed ownership but the host was superb and we wish him and his wife well with their new venture.
A nicely located hotel in the charming town of Schiltach. The staff is lovely, the rooms impeccable, the breakfast options are amazing! We didn't have the opportunity to have dinner there but we'll definitely try it the next time!
in a beautiful location overlooking a brook running directly passed the hotel. also, a chance to have a drink at the hotel’s outside garden beside the running water. we were well cared for with good food at dinner and breakfast.
Amazing property and surroundings! The owners are very considerate and generally want you to have a great time. I highly recommend this hotel and restaurant! Having dinner here is a must!!
this hotel was simply amazing, very romantic in a small town in the middle of the Black Forest. Sincerely, it was the best hotel I’ve ever been! With all the possible comforts.
one of the most friendly staff I’ve experienced in the last months. hotel is very clean and offers good food. equipment isn’t very new but well maintained.
