Harderwijk was surprising.
Harderwijk was surprising. I hadn't visited the city for decades so I was pleasantly surprised of the transformation of the small lakeside town. The waterside is absolutely gorgeous and a perfect place to enjoy the sunset. The food choices are plentiful and there are enough terraces to chose from. If you like water, take a guided tour through the canals and lake, like the one from the windmill. We visited in september and the city was still lively partly because of the wonderful weather. A small old, also hanseatic village with lots of small streets and alleys. Very cosy and nice. Has a beach (on the "river"/sea) with plenty of restaurants etc etc for tourists. But I would guess it's a bit empty in wintertime. I spent a day there, which I think was enough. As it was in August and a Saturday they had a (free) market day with concerts in the main square in the night. Very very crowded and buzzing. Very amusing.Pata_NegraSweden

We stayed at the ground floor apartment which gives us direct access to a cute and semi private city garden. Although modern the apartment incorporates elements from the location and its history which we thought is a very nice touch. Our final recommendation is the neighboring restaurant 't Zusje, just a few steps away this restaurant offers a tapas like menu with a never ending sampling of bites from all over the world.Josscy VallazzaIndonesia

In summertime you will have noise from the restaurants outside. The weather was warm and we need to open the window. I keep coming back because of the very friendly owners, excellent breakfast clean and good rooms. They have tree rooms and I have now tried them all.
