I liked Ovar. It is small and close to other places of interest. I took a day to return to Porto by train, to photograph the tile work in the Sao Bento train station. I did a little shopping, ate in some of the many restaurants and took more photos at the Blue church, Capela das Almas, Chapel of Souls. I also went by taxi to Valega to photograph the tile work on the church there. It is amazing. I read later that it is best to go at dusk due to the light. But I didn't get to see the inside. Check the times it is open.

Carnival in Ovar is fantastic!
Carnival in Ovar is fantastic! I am from the US so carnival is a new phenomenon for me. I really enjoyed the parade and, much to my surprise Ovar is a really nice town. There are lots of beautiful tiled buildings, the beach is really nice and I spent more time in Ovar than I was expecting. Not many restaurants were open due to carnival, but we went to a local place called PH which had a special meal for carnival. It wasn't the best meal I had in Portugal, but given the circumstances it was a good find.

Lovely old town with obvious investment in restoring it to its former glory. Check out the school of arts and crafts in the old paper mill and its exhibitions. Make sure to try the traditional cakes Pão de Ló de Ovar. A walk around searching for the lovely tiled houses is also a must. Nearby Ria is worth a visit, make sure you catch the short (car) ferry at St Jacinto to Aveiro.

Ovar is a wonderful area, especially for beach lovers.
Ovar is a wonderful area, especially for beach lovers. There are several great beach towns to explore, many new nature preserves and beach walks...and all of them feature restaurants with amazing food! Only half hour drive to Porto and you can easily take a train into the city and use the clean and safe subway system to get around the city for sightseeing.
I stayed at this hotel five years prior to this last visit and it was just as beautiful as I remembered it ~ you are literally steps from the beach! Unfortunately, I became ill with food poisoning and spent most of my time in my room. When checking out I was in need of something easy on my stomach and the front desk agent immediately called the kitchen and they put together a grilled ham and cheese for me! It was such a kind gesture and so appreciated! Definitely made a customer for life!
That is a house, only three bedrooms, so there can't be more than three couples at once. Good wi-fi, several bathrooms, two balconies, it is nice that prohibited outdoor shoes inside. I really enjoyed the kitchen, all the kitchenware was available. Really nice manager. The style of the hotel is adorable. Wooden floor in the rooms. It was really clean in the house. There is a feeling that the owner spent much time thinking how to make customers experience as nice as possible.
Amazing, walkable location right in the middle of Ovar Centro. The space was really well designed and beautifully decorated, and we had absolutely everything we needed during our stay. The huge rooftop deck was a great vantage point to look over the city, listen to the church bells and soak in the sun. We would definitely stay here again when we return to Ovar, the most charming little city!
Sérgio was an outstanding host! He was so accommodating and helpful. He responded quickly to emails. He was extremely kind. The location of the apartments was perfect. It was in the center of the city but not too loud. Right outside the apartments was a courtyard attached to a great little cafe and a restaurant. The best place to stay if you stay in Ovar!
The place was great, quiet, in the middle of the nature but also close to Ovar and a lovely beach with lots of amenities. Staff, Anna, was moito simpatica and gave us very good information about the area. La piscina was lovely although we run out of time to use it. We definitively recommend this place! Very good value for the money
The accommodation was wonderful and far better than what we had expected. Bruno was exceptionally friendly and gave us a wonderful tour of the house which had recently been renovated with such care and love. The breakfast was fresh from the bakery which was superb. I would definitely say this is the best accommodation in in Ovar.
Ovar is very nice and close to Porto and other attractions. The apartment was well-equipped located beside the sea with wonderful views and very spacious. The local food was very nice and reasonably priced as were the supermarkets.
Short drive to Porto. You may bike to Atlantico with Pedro s bikes - Thank you, Pedro! Have a a vacation feeling... Silence, Duoro wine, pleasant weather - never been hot. 5km to Vida commercial center - Ovar.
The location of the hotel is excellent, just across the road from the beach. The room was big and spacious, very clean. The breakfast options were good. The staff is friendly and welcoming
This is the best decorated place I've ever been in my entire life. It was so charming! The bed was comfy and it was perfect for our last night in Portugal before going to the airport.
