Unfortunately we arrived quite late so not really able to explore the village, though we did have a walk around the grounds of the Abbey. We would have liked to visit the Astin Martin museum though found out it was actually closed on Sundays. Will definitely visit the area again, perhaps in the warmer months.

    Very interesting historic village.

Very interesting historic village. Little through traffic thanks to the bypass so quiet. Dorchester Abbey is well worth a visit. Lovely walks all around, lots of footpath signs. A 10 minute easy walk brings you to the bypass where you can catch a frequent bus service into Oxford/Wallingford, and the buses run until early morning!

It was our first visit there and we were pleasantly surprised how beautiful this village was, full of old traditional charm and quaint cottage style houses. There were a few pubs there offering a variety of food and drinks. We really enjoyed the fish platter at The George Inn as their Friday offer. We had a pleasant walk around the village and visited the Old Abbey.

A gem of a hotel, beautifully decorated with quality furnishings. Hotel and room was very clean. There were lots of great little finishing touches in the rooms which made the stay that little bit more special, and the bed especially comfortable. Staff were friendly and polite, smartly dressed and helpful. Breakfast was really good - one of us is a coeliac (gluten free) and the other a vegetarian, which were both adequately catered for.

The minimal staff and owner were lovely, helpful and friendly. This establishment has so much potential but needs to address staffing situation. There was a long list of staff vacancies in the toilets which clearly speaks volumes. Our room was super and clean. Great shower and tea/coffee making facilities. Comfortable bed. Beautiful location. We would go again as long as we were assured of a decent menu... and a chef!

Very nice full English breakfast with serve yourself coffee - tea, orange juice, toast, cereal all served in oak beamed room. The room matched the look of the building but with good sized bathroom and large double comfy bed, adequate wardrobe space and dresser, bed side table with power socket under. Very tasty dinner menu all freshly cooked.

All the basics were fine. Apparently the Chef had recently walked out so there were no evening meals available which forced us into the George Hotel just up the road where the food and service was excellent so this turned out to be a blessing in disguise It was overall reasonable value for money

Beautiful, quaint hotel in a small village near to Abingdon. Not too far off the A34, so really convenient for us to break our journey further north. Great value for money. Room was comfortable, breakfast was tasty, staff were really friendly.

The George Hotel is an old coaching Inn and I think they have done a great job of making the rooms modern and comfortable considering the age of the building. Set in a lovely little village.
