We chose Ilminster as it was fairly close to the M5 but not too far from Lyme Regis, where we were visiting the following day. We didn't spend time in Ilminster, just used the hotel as a overnight stop, but it looked characterful and was a great location to other attractions, including Lyme Regis.

Lovely central location so you can go to Weymouth, Lyme Regis, Sidmouth, Taunton and Wells in approximately an hour or under. Ilminster is a small town, with a large Tesco and other small shops for all you needs. Friendly locals and plenty of places to visit for all the family. Highly recommended for a perfect getaway.

Ilminster is quite a small place, but has some nice pubs and restaurants, and there is beautiful countryside around it. Close to Yeovil and Glastonbury, less than one hour drive from Exeter, and some nice National Trust places close by to visit.SusanUnited Kingdom

The gardens are lovely, and our room on the ground floor was unique and very comfortable. It included a king size bed and a free standing bath tub and separate shower. There is a hot tub on the property and outdoor areas to relax. The owner prepares an amazing breakfast to order. This is one of the nicest places we have stayed during our travels.

Our room was at the back of the hotel which overlooked the gardens and parkland. Lovely. Good sized and very comfortable double bed. Staff were pleasant.
