We spent one morning of our stay in Leyburn. We enjoyed browsing in the diverse collection of local shops. We had a cooked breakfast in the small restaurant overlooking the market place and a drink in The Bolton Arms. Overall a pleasant town that we would retun to.

Staying in the centre of this lovely town (Market Place) is a good idea as several worthwhile things are close by, including the Wensleydale Railway (preserved diesel locomotives), a distillery and the town's attractive shops as well as a couple of restaurants. Walk a few yards away from town in any direction and the views across Wensleydale are superb. A really good place to visit for a night or two. Paradise for serious walkers, but also for those who want shorter strolls in a fabulous landscape.

Leyburn is a nice little town.
Leyburn is a nice little town. The Sandpiper is the jewel in the crown as far as eateries are concerned. There is also a delightful, independent supermarket which appears to be built in a Tardis! Lots of lovely, local produce combined with the usual provisions. A walk along the Leyburn Shawl is recommended for great views of the countryside (weather permitting!).

this is an idyllic setting with access to the Aysgarth falls, The Hardraw Force waterfall, Hawes, the Ribblehead viaduct and the abounding beauty that is the Yorkshire dales. Plenty of walks, Castle Bolton stands testament to the incredible build standards of its construction completing in 1399

Leyburn is a friendly town - places to eat were not brilliant except apparently the Sandpiper. We ate at the Black Swan - waited 3/4 hour for our main course. Fairly expensive. Had coffee on a Friday morning (market day) at the Community Hall. Parking can be difficult in the town.

Typical North Yorkshire market town, with shops and free (...
Typical North Yorkshire market town, with shops and free (but £2 donation requested) parking, centred around a large market square. Nice selection of individual shops, cafes and pubs. Watch out for the splendid real ales from Wensleydale Brewery, and excellent cheeses from the creamery at Hawes. But really, visit more than anything to explore the surrounding countryside.
The property was spotlessly clean, super comfortable and catered for our every need. The location was ideal: on a quiet side road with enough parking space for two vehicles, but within very short walking distance of the centre of Leyburn. Communication with the owner was excellent from the point of booking through to check-out, and the generous welcome pack was greatly appreciated by us all! I would highly recommend Wensleydale Halls for a break in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Thank you, Lucy.
Just off the main road in what is a very quiet location with beautiful views over the Dales either from the garden or from the small conservatory that was a part of our room. Engaging and helpful hosts. Leyburn is a lovely place to base yourself, shame the heritage railway was not operating from the nearby station. And the local pubs all featured beers from the excellent local Wensleydale brewery.
Secluded, shady, spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday.. Its in a beautiful part of Yorkshire. We visited Leyburn, Ricmond, Aysgarth falls and Ingleton falls. The accomodation is very reasonably priced and we appreciate the work that the Jonas Centre do. We will be returning in the near future and recommending you to friends and family.
Lovely cottage in a lovely location.
Lots of walks, enjoyed watching the racehorses going through the village to the gallops each morning. 3 pubs in the village all serving food. If you are looking for posh gastro pub food go further afield….these pubs serve traditional pub food.
Great base for exploring the lovely villages and market towns of North Yorkshire.
Wonderful little village, and the hotel was a few minutes walk from town. Beautiful, well maintained and updated house from 1757. The staff were great and took great care of us. When a problem developed with the radiator coming on, we were moved to an even nicer and larger room that was quite spacious and lovely. Easy drive to the Dales.
Another stay at the Wyvill Arms and another lovely time in the nicest hotel/B&B in the area. Beautiful and comfortable room with a magnificent bathroom, delicious breakfast and two very good dinners in the restaurant. Plus the welcoming and friendly owners and staff make sure that you know they appreciate your business.
Great Location, easy to find, right in the centre of Leyburn . Everything that you would need is in walking distance of the property. Pennycress Cottage itself was absolutely delightful and comfortable for two people using it as a base to explore the Yorkshire Dales.
The Appleby is perfectly located both in the heart of the Yorkshire dales and only a two minute walk from the centre of Leyburn. The property has plenty of space with nice comfortable furniture. Great host that we’re very welcoming.
An excellent cottage, very cosy and an ideal base to explore Bishopdale and Mid-Wensleydale one of the nicest parts of the Yorkshire Dales. We have used many types of accomodation but this is the best!
The property is located in an exceptionally cute we Yorkshire town, Sean and Heather are wonderful hosts and the village folk welcomed the wandering Canadian with open arms the six nights I stayed
Everything you could want in a self catering property . Lovely living space , comfy bedrooms and quiet location but easy to get to Leyburn. Suzanne was a great host and very quick to respond .

Excellent location, spacious house, lovely outdoor space. Near to amenities in town and central to exploring the Yorkshire dales. Great views from the house
The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable - the fudge was a nice touch! Leyburn is a wonderful place and there was little noise from outside.
