Wells is a beautiful, small city, dominated by it's immense Cathedral. We very much enjoyed both. We spent time within the Cathedral, enjoying it's beauty, a service, and a concert. The shops and restaurants were varied and good, and the market exceptional. The Bishop Palace Gardens were our final treat with it's restful water gardens. All in all an ideal short holiday destination.

The Cathedral and Bishops Palace gardens are breath taking There are busses to Bristol and other places from the station. The cathedral is magnificent.
The cathedral is magnificent. Wells is quintessentially a lovely small English city/town which has retained its quaint and elegant look. Good quality products and food available. The Market is on a Wednesday from 9AM-3pm-ish, starting near the cathedral. I highly recommend it to nice people who are interested in treasuring this beautiful place.
Just perfect really. Great location just off of A371 near Wells. We stayed in Dairy Cottage which is attached to the main farm house. It has its own little outside area. The cottage was well equipped and really comfortable and very quiet. You are far enough from the A371 so not disturbed by it. I didn't meet the owner Carol, everything was organised via Booking / text messages but Carol was on hand should there have been any issues. I wouldn't hesitate in thoroughly recommend this cottage.
nice period property, great location at the heart of Wells and a stones throw away from the cathedral, a lot of history connected with the pub/hotel. breakfast was very nice, varied with having a continental then a cooked breakfast. breakfast staff were very pleasant and friendly. 4 poster bed (room 1) was a lovely touch, hence booking that particular room. small car park at the rear of the property, difficult to find so had to ring for directions, we were lucky to get the last space available.
Room was very clean, warm in February. En Suite Toilet/Shower also clean and warm. The Bed was comfortable, the TV worked well. It was room only and each day I had a Pain au chocolate, Porridge Pot, pack of biscuits, fruit bowel and plenty of tea, Coffee and milk. 400m walk to a Witherspoons pub, easy walking to Cathedral and towncentre. Off Street Parking in front of the property. Al in all excellent value for money.
When we arrived we were given a warm welcome by Holly, and homemade cakes were on offer in the beautiful tea room. We stayed in the Master Bedroom which had phenomenal views of the garden, and of Wells beyond. The breakfast was extraordinary. Staff, grounds, location, all were incredible! Every room was a treasure. We felt like guests at a British country house in a marvelous novel!
Sarah, hotel owner was fantastic, couldn't do enough for us. Even made her washing machine available to us.
Terrific room, tastefully decorated with extras. Great bathroom, clean and functional.
All staff in hotel were welcoming. Parking was an issue but made easy with staff assistance.
Easy walk up to market square and stunning Wells Cathedral
the hotel was In an ideal location to explore Wells and the surrounding area
Our room overlooked the cathedral and the view was amazing
The staff were friendly and helpful
The lounge area was comfortable
We had breakfast as part of our stay and there was a good variety of cereals and fruit to choose from and the cooked breakfast was tasty
The hotel was in a very old historic building and its terrace and some rooms directly faced Wells Cathedral for outstanding views. Location could not be better. The breakfast was good but a bit expensive - but so was Wells in general. We ate at the restaurant one night, on the terrace and it was very good. The restaurant is very popular.
Everything you could think of was provided. It was a beautiful apartment right in the centre of Wells. It was spacious with lots of personal touches which made it very comfortable. My sister and I often stay at The Swan Hotel in Wells but this apartment will now be our first go to when booking further trips to Wells.
We've stayed at the Crown at Wells for 5 Christmas breaks, and obviously we love the place. It overlooks the square and the beautiful Cathedral( providing you have one of the front rooms). The staff are friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant is very good. It's a great place to stay. Highly recommended.
Burcott Mill is a beautiful Mill House in a quiet setting in Wookey.
Our suite was beautifully clean and most comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with a good choice on menu.
The hosts were a charming couple and most helpful. Highly recommended.
