This hotel exceeded my expectations, as I had read mixed reviews on here regarding some factors like cleanliness, spa facilities and food. We loved this hotel for many reasons: The location was fantastic situated up on a hillside with a beautiful 360 degree view. The hotel itself is a very charming and intimate boutique hotel with an artsy feel. Comfortable common space to sit and enjoy the views outside of your room or to have a cocktail from the bar. The view from our room was amazing, and we were able to see the Northern Lights from our room the night we stayed there. We loved the spa and wished we were able to spend more time there. They have beautiful thermal baths and inside/outside thermal pools in case of weather. We did not partake in the dinner the night we stayed, but the breakfast was one of the best we had on our trip. Wonderful dogs on the property that we really enjoyed having around.

Incredibly modern and comfortable hotel with an excellent breakfast included. Decent gym and very friendly and responsive staff.
It’s a perfect base for exploring the golden circle and the south coast. There is only 4.3 mi to Hveragerdi and Selfoss, cities with a wide range of shops and restaurants.

The property was lovely- well maintained and easy enough to find. The room was as expected- we enjoyed a nice warm shower and comfy beds! Staff were very friendly as well. Would recommend!

location is good. In the middle of no where for northern light hunting. Also if you are doing the golden circle tour, then connect to a road trip to south coast, it's a good location to stay for the night.
Host is very friendly and let us use the EV charger.

We didn't actually get chance to see much of Selfoss itself as we were using the apartment as a Base for other excursions, great for south coast & golden circle as long as you're comfortable driving a hire car.
We are looking forward to visiting again in the future & seeing even more!

The Town has grown since I visited 7 years ago.
The Town has grown since I visited 7 years ago. The town pool is a great spot to go and relax. There is a fabulous food court across the street from the Hotel Selfoss -- great spot for drinks and dinner. You can still get a good hot dog in the parking lot of the Hotel Selfoss. The town is well located to visit waterfalls, geysers, and thermal pools. I would return.

A friendly town - we stayed in the camper site which was great and then a return visit to stay in a hotel and we ate in the food hall which was nice with options and variety. We also did the Skyr tour in the basement of the food hall. I would add that a wider and more of the “taste” section would be nice.
It’s a central spot to come back to or travel from and back if that suits your travel plans.

Selfoss has a sweet, mostly walkable, growing center that includes an easy, level river-walk. We found enough variety in the food hall to keep us well-fed and happy with the choices over several days. (It was recommended to us by a rental car agent at KEF. She was rightly enthusiastic about the tacos - and just about everything was solid!) Selfoss is also a great location near the Southern Coast for easy, varied day-trips - everything from amazing waterfalls to black-sand beaches, from otherworldly volcanic deposits to hot-springs, craters, and more. With Selfoss as our lodging spot, we could have happily explored for several more days.

Nice quiet town with more than just the waterfall.
Nice quiet town with more than just the waterfall. Plenty of places to eat and shop. Þingvellir national park is nearby with great views, hiking and (of course) several waterfalls. The fall colors were out during our visit the last week of September and only last a few days.
We just stayed one night but this is definitely a place that's perfect for longer stays to explore all of the South
- Nice apartment with lovely decoration and details
- Our room was facing the nice church
- Close to cheap supermarkets and restaurants (the main street is just a block behind the house) while still very quiet
- We travelled in Winter and the place was cosy warm
- Plenty of space for all your luggage
- Free parking
- We did not use the kitchen but at first glance, it looked like there is everything you would need
All good - except the coffee at breakfast which was bad. Comfy modern rooms with good blackout curtains for the light nights. The choice at breakfast was mostly good though eclectic (past and carrots!) and it was a little busy. Selfoss has a few nice places to eat out just a few minutes walk from the hotel, and is a good location.
Good communication from the hotel.
Parking either at the back or on the street outside.
It was really top!! Huge and comfy Appartment, warm and very stylish. We spent a few days there with the family.
Check in was uncomplicated, we felt welcome.
Selfoss is a great city from where you can go to so many different places worth seeing: lava-tunnel, hot springs, lava Museum, national park, see side, nice local restaurants...
And we enjoyed the time with the family in this Appartement.
This is a cozy charming hotel in what seems like a middle of nowhere. It's a type of a wooden chalet and was warm and nice inside on the contrast with cold and drenching rain outside at the time of the visit.
Big bonus was the restaurant inside the hotel which was already mentioned by many here - it was a buffet and had delicious home made food I guess icelandic style (you had pay extra).
It was great to have a "king" bed, even if it was two singles pushed together. Most places we found in Iceland had small beds, and it was comfortable. The bathroom was also large and had great pressure in the shower. It was nice having a restaurant downstairs, although we chose to walk to the nearby downtown establishments. It was nice to be close enough to walk.
Secluded and serene. Love how the homes are built on their own individual mounds of grass allowing for separation and privacy from neighbours. The homes themselves are well equip and spacious with a beautiful shower. Property has 2 friendly dogs belonging to the family roaming around, who came up to greet us and play ball. Host was very welcoming and helpful.
It is the perfect hotel, and the spa is so warm. I forgot my expensive necklace there and they sent it back to us. They also have cute dogs and one of them jumped on my daughter because she was so happy to play with her. Now my daughter misses the dogs so much. The owners are very friendly, and the restaurant is also amazing.
We had a cosy chalet on this quiet holiday camping site. The chalet was equipped with a comfortable bed, shower room and toilet, a fridge, microwave and two-ring hob. There was also a hot tub to use. Selfoss is a lovely town near the attraction on Iceland’s Golden Circle - there’s a good supermarket and good restaurants
We stayed there during our first night in Iceland and it was very convenient for starting our trip to the south of Iceland. The hotel was super clean and they have kitchen facilities. We had dinner in the restaurant downstairs, Matarlyst, and was really nice and good price.
Outstanding! Great value for the $. Very clean. Located in cute countryside. You are not just limited to your room, many resting areas available. Well equipped and spacious kitchen. Hot tub is a nice bonus. Easy check in, owner sends a helpful email prior.
In a good location for the Golden Circle & some beautiful waterfalls. Good restaurants in nearby Selfoss. Clean & comfortable rooms & beds with good shower. Clean towels provided every day. Hot tub & sauna. Friendly & helpful owners.
GREAT location, 5 minute walk across the bridge to downtown Selfoss. Lovely setting by river with nice walking path. Lovely host who was there is we needed her but respected our privacy. Spacious unit, great to have laundry.
Kitchen was very nice and I liked that all the bathrooms and showers were individuals rather than just stalls in a larger room. No bunk beds added to a feeling of comfort and spaciousness.
Basic hotel that has what you need for an overnight stay.
Rooms were clean but a bit dated. The location is great if you plan to explore the food hall in Selfoss.
Just the right size, spacious and practical. And in a great location for golden circle trips. Plus selfoss has loads of restaurants and bars and supermarkets
Great location for our first night in Iceland. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Excellent buffet breakfast with many choices. Stayed here for two nights.
Breakfast was wonderful, hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and it was an easy on/off to the main highway leading to the South Coast and Reykjavik
