The Saone Peninsula is the most pleasant part of DR.
The Saone Peninsula is the most pleasant part of DR. A large number of different beaches, so that everyone can find something suitable for themselves. Traffic in the city is chaotic, but perfectly manageable once you get used to it, both by car and motorbike. Pleasant sitting and sipping cocktails at the Colibri beach bar. You have a lot possibilities to eat, different restaurants, bars, or you grab smth on the street.

Ballenas beach was amazing for swimming, and great restaurants nearby . We stayed at a smaller condo/hotel close to the beach and were very happy. Feed the poor homeless dogs. The town itself is chaotic and noisy but Ballenas beach area was wonderful

My family and I often go to Las Terrenas where we enjoy the clean water and beach, the lush vegetation and the overall low key ambiance. We do long walks on the beach, surfing and we enjoy the excellent restaurants - Italian and French - in town. Terrenas is for the indépendant traveler who wants to discover other culture. There are also beautiful excursions avsilable: Los Haitises with their unique eco system, the hike to El limon waterfall and catamaran rides to other beaches! Waiting to go back!

Las Terrenas is a busy, small town filled with motorcycles, ATV's and cars crowding the streets. Once you learn the direction (one way streets) quite manageable. Parking can be a problem in some places but the better restaurants have attendants to help you find a spot. The two large grocery stores have ample parking. A very good choice of nice, highly rated beachside restaurants. More casual dining experiences along the main downtown streets. Lots of French and especially Italian influence. KiiKii beach bar/restaurant sells POUTINE, as good as any in Quebec! Cheese locally made. Even found an outlet selling Beavertails!
Beaches are beautiful and you can park on most of them. Loud "Boom Box" music coming out of the cruising or parked cars and ATV's will make you smile! La joie de vivre is everywhere! Il Lemon waterfall is beautiful and worth the trip if you are able. Clave Verde Eco lodge up the mountain for a change of scenery and wonderful lunch.
Support the locals and buy something!!

The city of Las Terrenas isn't something special.
The city of Las Terrenas isn't something special. A touristic place crouded of cars and motorcycles. If you are coming from Europe the level is low. However there are some good spots (restaurants, bars, gift shops) that the service is good and upgrated. It has to be mentioned that those places owned by europeans.Mostly French.
The beaches around Las Terrenas are amazing. Like you see them at photos. White sand, waves and palm trees.
Zero points to El Limon. The place is amazing but the people close to it is a mess. So negative for the turism of the area. The government has to do something. It's so unsafe and they ask so much money to guide you there, even the official turist agents. If you have time to the country there are other places you can visit

The beaches and the views are amazing!
The beaches and the views are amazing! Outside the hotels there are plenty of restaurants, friendly faces snd a lot of green vegetation. Driving at night can be scary because the area leading into the hip part needs better lighting.
The hacienda is just beautiful, located in a calm part of Las Terrenas (5 mins to the beach by car), nicely equipped and very well maintained. The absolute highlight, though, was the staff, everyone is smiling at you, breakfasts were delicious, and the host Valerio gave us many helpful tips for what to do (not only in the Samaná peninsula but also in other parts of the island) and even helped us organize a tour to the Los Haitises national park and Cayo Levantado. Grazie mille, Valerio!
We loved everything about Mahona! The grounds were beautiful and lush and every space was decorated in the most relaxing way. The Villa was FANTASTIC!! I wish I had booked more nights so we could have enjoyed it and the private pool for longer. The staff was accommodating and helpful. I had a wonderful massage that was given in an open air area with privacy. I cannot say enough about this hotel. If we go to Las Terrenas again, I would stay again in a heartbeat.
They cancelled our confirmed booking while we were on route without cell service or wifi. We arrived in Las Terrenas and searched for hours but the address is not correct and leads you into a deserted part of the town. We asked locals for directions but they didn't know where it was either and they tried to phone but the number listed does not work (Polish we think). They stole an afternoon of our holidays with no apology.
Beautiful resort in the Northern part of the Dominican Republic. Very quiet area, serene and perfect for a couple days of relaxing and unwinding. Food quality was good compared to other all inclusive resorts I stayed in the past. Staff was always nice & welcoming. Everything is modern and new. The beach is clean and ideal for long walks. The bar is open until late and in the evening you have live bands or a DJ :)
Great location in Las Terrenas. Extremely safe. Parking inside the facility. Family friendly. Walking distance to the beach and restaurants. For a local experience you can drive into town or take a taxi. Pool at perfect temperature. Tasteful decoration of villas. Very comfortable. Quiet and relaxing place. No TV! Delicious and generous breakfast. Very friendly Dominican staff. Aude is a lovely host.
Super cool boutique hotel with a lovely pool that runs alongs the rooms and great communal areas. Really well designed hotel with an excellent location just set back from the front in Las Terrenas. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Delicious cocktails available until 8pm at the bar.
Superb location on playa Bonita, what a pleasure to wake up with the view of the ocean! Surf school directly on the hotel site, very convient and very friendly staff from the school surf. Very good atmosphere, a bit like an hostel! Recommended for solo traveler or group of friends.
Best hostel I have stayed in the Dominican Republic so far, family style, good vibes, the owners are very nice and helpful. Good location, close to restaurants, supermarket, night life at a walking distance. I booked for 2 nights and ended up staying a week.
Perfectly located to reach everything in Las Terrenas by foot, flawless facilities with a kitchen, large fridge and water dispenser, everything was clean and tidy, and the staff went out of their way to provide us with drinks at 3am
I love this place every time I visit Las Terrenas this is where I like to stay. The facility is very clean, and service is good. The beach is directly across the street and the apartment I stayed at had a wonderful view.
We had been here once before and knew we just needed a few days away from hectic Santo Domingo. This was the perfect place do get the recharge we needed. The hotel was just great and the restaurant was also very good.
The Leeloo was a beautiful and Gabi was a wonderful host. The breakfasts were awesome and our room had all that we needed. While the hotel was a short walk to the beach, we were very close to the core Las Terrenas.
small hotel with cozy and elegant rooms, decent size rooms with an inside and outdoor shower
like a zen garden in the middle of las terrenas, very quiet and relaxing
great breakfast with lots of attention
Edith is an excellent host and has creates an oasis of tranquility complete with a sanctuary for beautiful animals, birds and flora. Simply the best place that we’ve stayed in the Dominican Republic.
It was close to the main area of las terrenas, my first impression was that the place was very clean and the staff put us above all. The food of the restaurant was also excellent great cooks overall!
I normally stay at Puerto Plaza since I started to visit las terrenas which was over 7 years ago. I decided to go out of my comfort zone which is why I stayed at this hotel this time.
By far the best quality over price accommodation I could book over an 8 weeks stay in the Dominican Republic. Nice employees, breath-taking view, large room/property.
