The people in Pontevedra were lovely. Very friendly & helpful. Food & drink were value for money & always good quality. It feels very ‘Spanish’ & not too touristy. Totally recommend for a mainland stay.

Pontevedra is a very pretty city.
Pontevedra is a very pretty city. The old town area is large and stylish and has all the tourist needs like amazing food and drink places, accommodation, markets and shops and it's been fully pedestrianised. Also is surrounded by amazing beaches and trekking paths.

Pontevedra has a charming old city center, with its two-storied houses and its porticoes. As a pilgrim, I recommend a visit to the cathedral and to the monastery complex, and a casual stroll about the streets. Though I know there is much more to see and to do in Pontevedra besides passing by. There are restaurants for every taste, ranging from fast food and pizzas to the local gastronomy, which is very rich and tasty - the fish and the octopus. If there is one thing I really didn't like (at all), it was the bus station, which looks abandoned. If you must travel by bus, you'd better go directly to the bus parking place and try to find someone to talk to over there - or ask a bus driver.

Pontevedra (and surrounding areas) is a must to visit.
Pontevedra (and surrounding areas) is a must to visit. The food is great, the atmosphere is relaxed - so a great place to go if you want to get away. It has history, culture and the walk along the river is priceless (either for sport or just to relax). The people are great too. Pontevedra is a great city to walk in (you can tell there's been a big push for pedestrians in preference to cars!)

Great city to visit, well of the tourist trail.
Great city to visit, well of the tourist trail. Lots of bars & restaurants, especially in the old city. Did a trip to the Atlantic coast which was well worth the effort. Stunning views out to the islands.

Pontevedra to us is a hidden gem not only of Galicia but the whole of Spain. It is very beautiful and almost traffic free which means wandering around and visiting the many historic buildings and the fabulous shops and bars makes it just about perfect. It also is very convenient for travelling to the many wonderful coastal areas and the mountains. There are also riverside walks around the town so plenty to see and do. Perfect!
The property was exceptionally clean. And the proprietor was exceptionally responsive. Bottled water, coffee and a bottle of wine (!) were provided, as well as a map of town, etc. The location was great, it was especially good for walking around town. As to be expected, there were stairs which were easily doable; and noise from outside nighttime activity, which didn't stop us from a good sleeping experience.
If we found ourselves in Pontevedra again, you can bet we would seek out this property!
Myself and two children had a one night overnight stay in Casas A Beira during our tour of Galicia in August. Fantastic accommodation, lovely comfortable double bed and really comfortable sofa bed. Well equipped kitchen, lovely walk-in shower ,nice outdoor seating area on the terrace. The location of the apartment was also great, easy walking distance to the main attractions in Pontevedra. Great stay, would definitely recommend.
Seems a newly renovated hotel, all things in the room are quite new and clean. The restaurant on the ground floor provides delicious Galicia food, a good value for money. The staff was super nice and friendly. Unfortunately the day when we were there was so hot that we can not go anywhere...Sleep in night was impossible due to the hot weather. Although the hotel provided a small fan, but it did not help much ;-(
The apartment was clean and comfortable with great access to the town. The host was so reliable, meeting us at the apartment when we arrived as we had emailed him when we were a few km away while walking the Camino. He apologized for not speaking much English. I find an apology kind of cute, but unnecessary since I am the one who can’t speak Spanish while in Spain.
We loved this apartment!! We were in town for the World Championship age group AquaBike race. The location was perfect for where we needed to be. The host was a very pleasant lady. She was very informative and so nice. We loved the people in Pontevedra. We traveled around Europe after our race, but Spain was our favorite place! Would love to come back again.
AMAZING! Very clean, cozy, location just perfect. I highly recommend! Great showers, towels available, rooms very comfortable and owner very pleasant, friendly and helpful. 100 per cent satisfied! Next Camino de Santiago ill stay in Pontevedra in Charino hostel again. Next time I’ll stay at least one more day. Much better than lots of hotels!!! I loved it!
Very good buffet breakfast considering it is a 2 star hotel! Good views. Varied range of products and cooked eggs are offered as well. No offer of gluten free products nor non-dairy. Bathroom towels surprisingly new, soft and extra large. Pool towels are also provided upon request. Staff very friendly and helpful.
The location is nearly perfect. Less than 5 minutes is needed to walk to the heart of the town.
The hotel is very clean.
The staff is very friendly and helpful in the true spirit of Pontevedra!
I have stayed in Hotel Madrid twice and will consider for my future visits in Pontevedra.
The location was good. We didn't eat in the hotel there are lots of cafes and restaurants close by. The hotel is a bit dated. The room was clean and comfortable. I had a room on the front of the hotel so it was noisy at night with the windows open. It has secured parking at extra cost
Location to the Armenteira monastery and Camino trail is great
Pool - refreshing after 25km walk! Large pool towels provided
Great breakfast included
Friendly staff
Free espresso machine coffee at reception
Roomy, and modern natural design hotel
We'd highly recommend this hotel. Our room was exceptionally clean which is always our top priority. The bathroom was sparkling clean. Our window overlooked other buildings where homeowners hung their laundry from window to window - very quaint.
Room was really big. The Hotel was centrally located and have a private parking
The restaurant by the Cafeteria has extremely reasonable prices and the food is good
Also the liquor selection at the bar was pretty extensive
It is perfectly situated in the old town area of the city and is right along the Camino de Santiago. But it is a one-star hotel and that seemed appropriate. It was clean and a good price for the location.
Location is very good, just into Pontevedra center, which by the way is one of the well preserved old towns in Spain
Bathroom and toilet are properly set up with basic amenities for personal cleaning
the best thing is that it is just outside Pontevedra train station. it is clean and fairly new, with some signs of wear. Room size is fairly standard for such hotels here.
