I loved the views of Port Hardy, but shopping in the Mall was not a great , the toilet situation was not a good experience, I would say a young person aprox 20 to 25 yrs old was in the toilet for about 1/2hr, scary as I think he was using drugs, There were several of us waiting to use the facility

Need a car to get around.

Need a car to get around. Book tours etc before you go as very little information or advertising when you get there. We maybe should have done this and we would have found something to do!. There are walking trails but not very well advertsied. Beautiful untouched and natural scenery around that area. Telegraph Cove is a must.. Not many places to eat and very few shops.

Port Hardy is a beautiful city, but not many options for coffee shops or places to stop in for a drink other that the restaurants in the hotels. Lots of places to explore and walking trails by the Harbour and met some locals fishing off the pier by the Marina. If one brought their fishing rods, this would be a nice way to spend some time. I could have easily stayed 2-3 nights here but it's generally used as a hub for Cape Scott or BC Ferries heading up the Inside Passage. The nature here is next to none and lots of food options in the Save on Foods for those wanting to eat in. There is a BC Liquor store which has everything else you might need.

Port Hardy is a small town surrounded by nature. If you enjoy beach walks, hiking, biking, boating or camping it is a great base to explore the outdoors. The North Island is absolutely beautiful and full of wildlife. Port Hardy has a great coffee shop, Cafe Guido, great bookstore with a selection of local authors - Booknook, and a great little local market Copper and Kelp, plus a good restaurant at Kwa’lilas Hotel.

A great little quiet town with trails nearby and a good place to access the NW tip of the island from. It's beautiful and we could see wildlife right out our window or as we walked along the boardwalk.

Its a great place to go see wildlife (bears crossing the road, great whale watching available), go hiking and do wilderness excursions but there is very little to do in town itself with particularly limited options for keeping younger kids entertained. There is a nice sandy beach on the Port Rupert side but it can get windy.

I loved the price which is half of what a regular hotel costs. I liked the big kitchen and small outdoor seating on the balcony. It was just a basic room, but it had extra pillows, lots of towels, a reading light and lots of outlets and good wifi. I liked the big bath down the hall and how quiet it was. They waited for us to arrive from the ferry at 1 am. That was really nice of them.

The staff was friendly and caring. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The curtains were dark but the rest of the room was great. It's an old hotel but they have been making changes. I was skeptical of getting the first floor room but it was fine. There is a good size fridge, Not the regular hotel mini-fridge.

Marketed as a backpackers hostel but was more like a good budget hotel. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly - for example helping us lock up our bikes inside to keep them safe while we did an overnight trip to Cape Scott. I wish we had stayed another night here rather than paying over the odds for a shabby hotel room.

The hotel’s decor is outstanding - and the most comfortable bed I have slept at a hotel lodging. The hotel staff was so welcoming and the facilities over all are exceptional . The continental breakfast was in a beautiful room flooded with sunlight and was almost a full meal. Just really overall great.

The hotel facility and location were great. Rooms were well appointed and very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was fairly basic but consistent with most other hotel offerings (self serve with same food options both days) Staff in all sections were friendly, helpful and professional.

We were always greeted by very friendly and helpful reception staff. Our room smelled lovely and was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, with a good view to top it off! Good restaurants either side of the hotel for dinner! Would absolutely recommend a stay here!

The property is a short drive from the Port Hardy ferry terminal and was happy to receive us at midnight. We had a good nights sleep as it was quiet. Staff were very pleasant. A good breakfast was provided in a spacious dinning room.

Lovely cabin. Immaculate and full of character. Well designed use of space with a kitchenette even! The grounds border and Estuary and Port Hardy Bay. Close to all amenities yet not in the thick of things. Nature's beauty abounds.

Great location, great view of the ocean from large balcony. The hotel is older so no elevator but it is kept very clean. Beds are a little too hard, imo. Very friendly staff! I would definitely stay here again.
