As with everywhere in Greece, food was phenomenal.
As with everywhere in Greece, food was phenomenal. I even enjoyed the humorous "hard sell" barker at a dockside Taverna. "Are you hungry? You look hungry! Your hunger is subconscious!" and so forth. As an overweight psychiatrist in the States, both my wife and I were rolling in laughter. "If he is hungry now, what will he look like when he is full?"

We have stayed here before but last time further out of town in a villa. This trip we stayed in town within walking distance of everything. There are so many different restaurants we could have stayed for six months to sample them all. Would recommend finding the little tavernas up the little side streets for the most interesting dishes. House wine is great value and nearly always decent. If you want to splash out a bit a private boat rental to take you up the coast is well worth it and can be found in the old harbour from a number of vendors. If you like a beach there is a fantastic one that stretches from the East end of town. And if you don't like the sand there are some steps to access the rocky area of the sea to the west of the castle.

Retimno old town is typical venatian old city with old venetian harbour. Clean, safe with good vibes of street life, plenty of restaurants and shops. For me most beautiful and worth seeing city in Crete. Night city walk is obligatory!
It's an apartment hotel run by a wonderful family which does everything in their power to make you feel welcome. It was a real pleasure to stay there and always having someone around to ask for questions or help. The apartments are also completely renovated and therefore modern and very good looking - especially the balconies are real plus points.
The location of the hotel was also very fitting for our needs: Only 2 walking minutes from the beach, supermarkets, restaurants, cafés and also only 10-15 minutes walk to the Old town.
It's a well-run family business. The breakfast was wonderful, lots of options. All the staff and the owner were friendly and were always there to help and answer questions during our stay.
The location is close to the beach and many restaurants/shops. It's a one minute walk to the beach and a 3 min walk to a bus station. It's a 40-ish minute walk/7 min taxi ride/10 min bus ride to old town (the center of Rethymno) from the hotel.
Shower/hot water's great. Nice balcony/pool/sun-beds.
Staff is very nice, always here to help. Food is delicious and has variety, specially eggs 4-5 kinds, also cheese, sausages, vegetables and fruits. The room is very stylish and clean, has a balcony. There also comfortable swimming pool on the roof top, so you can chill there if the sea storms. The location is near the old town, centre of Rethymno. Around a lot of restaurants and shops. You can get to the beach in 15 minutes walking. Staying at the hotel was very comfortable and pleasant.
We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to the hotel’s new rooms. The room was lovely - modern, clean, and well equipped. The hotel pool setting overlooking the beach is glorious, we loved spending time relaxing on the lounges. The location suited us well, with restaurants easy walking distance nearby, or the option of a ~50min walk or 6 euro taxi into the old town for a change of scenery and some more variety in options. We also found the majority of the staff very warm and helpful!
The hotel is beautiful and clean. Everything looks new and well maintained.
The room was big and comfortable. We enjoyed the staying very much.
There are three pools (one indoor) and the private beach across the road, so you can always find a space to sit and enjoy.
The food was very good in the breakfast and the chef created, with a smile, special dishes for my vegan wife everyday.
The place is very close to the old town (15m walk) and it's located straight on the boardwalk.
We visited Rethymno briefly before while in Crete and liked it so much that we chose to come back and stay in Anna’s fabulous boutique hotel. The historical old town is beautiful and the hotel perfectly located in the centre. Anna gave us an incredibly personal experience offering guidance and pointers on sightseeing and restaurants to visit. Anna and her whole team made us feel so welcome and cared for.
This hotel was fantastic.
The rooms were very spacious and bed was comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful, fresh and had a great variety for all tastes.
The pool was a good size with poolside service if you are wanting a drink or something to eat.
Hotels location was 1 block from the beach and about 1km (flat easy walk with lots to see) into the old town of Rethymno.
Very good location, modern rooms, warm and helpful staff. We got a free upgrade to a room with sea-view, which made our stay even better. Room price included sunbeds at the beach right opposite the hotel. Old town only a short, pleasant walk away. Our most practical stay in Crete, having its own parking and with the beach right across the street.
Location is perfect. It’s just a short walk from the Old town and a 10 min walk to the beach. We had a room with garden view, so nice and quiet! I don’t remember ever sleeping that well in a hotel!
The staff was really friendly. I was travelling with my 3 year old and everyone was very friendly and helpful!
Zannis hotel was very good value for money, with a good sized room, nice clean pool and excellent location a walking distance from the main part of Rethymno town and across the road from the beach. The manager was helpful when I encountered an issue (which was not the fault of the hotel).
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved the possibility of eating breakfast outside on the terrace almost on the beach. Because it´s a very small family hotel there is no queue for breakfast or reservations of sunbeds. Good quiet location with a lovely seaview.
About 30 mins' walk from the old town, but these are good little apartments, right on the beach and even the garden view room has a small balcony. Room was clean, shower, ac and WiFi all worked perfectly and the staff were polite, friendly and efficient. Recommended!
We reserved the room with the balcony and view to the lighthouse. The view was excellent! I couldn't get enough of it. The hotel was near the old town and at the perfect spot to go anywhere you want. The room was clean with plenty of storage and nicely decorated.
Location and the building was just perfect! How can you ask for anything better in Old town than this cozy little hotel with a breathtaking terrace. Kostas was a wonderful host and helped with parking and directions and suggestions. Absolutely wonderful.
Location is fantastic and so central to everything. The two men that run the hotel just couldn’t be more helpful (especially providing us with a charger and much needed corkscrew!) Situated right on the beachfront and spotlessly clean
New family run hotel which was extremely well designed and comfortable. Close to a lot of restaurants and easy want to beach and old town area. Staff/owners are very nice and helpful. Rooftop area with small pool was really nice.
Great apartments. I liked the location. Not on the beach, but quiet. Lots of restaurants around. The staff was very polite and friendly. Free parking spaces for the hotel guests. I would definitely recommend it.
We paid to upgrade to a nicer room which was their duplex suite. It was a beautiful room which was very quiet too even though the location of the hotel is very central in the old town. Well worth the upgrade.
The best part is the breakfast which is cooked to order from the menu. Staff are helpful and very friendly.
Close to beach, but it is just like all the hotels along the road. A bit far from old town.
