We enjoyed staying here. We traveled with two kids so having a separate sleeping space with the loft was what attracted us to here, plus the use of the community pools which is only 1 block away and the grassy area in-front of the house. It is in a private gated community, the house was modern and clean. The owner was very responsive and helpful, they helped arrange private transport from Olon to Mindo for our next leg of the journey.

Its a beautiful place..
Its a beautiful place.. Not too much noise and we didn't get harassed on the beach. the locals were friendly and i felt safe walking the streets. if you are interested in a more touristy place to hang out for the day and eat good food..or sit at the beach.. ... montanita is less than 5 min taxi ride and it cost 3 buck or a 7 min bus ride for 0 .50. We loved Olon ... we would come back again...

The village is so tranquil and slow paced. The beach is beautiful and it's a great beach for surfing. There's a lot of space as the majority of people are in Montanita. I'm so happy we chose Olón over Montanita. Here you get to experience that authentic coastal village vibe. For eating, there are a lot of nice places. The 2,5$ lunch is great value in the Roadhouse restaurant. The cakes and limonade in La Churreria are excellent, also the cakes in Mil Hojas are great!!

I arrived earlier than expected to check in and they were very courteous with me; had my room ready very quickly. It felt like I was staying at an old friend's place, super chill! A great spot to stay while visiting Olon; I wish I could have stayed longer and if I return to Olon I will definitely be staying there again! It is a short walk from the beach, close to some delicious food, and safe to walk around. Loved Olon and its people, and loved Hostel Gran Azul!

For anyone traveling from oversees - Ellen asks for a 50% deposit which you need to transfer via a payment service. This is normal for Ecuador and you can trust her :-). The hotel is owner-operated, is located in the middle of the cloud forest, has a pool, offers fantastically good massages and has a phenomenal view of the sea and the surrounding landscape. A restaurant serving freshly prepared Ecuadorian cuisine rounds out the offerings. The staff speaks mostly only Spanish, but thanks to Google Translate and hands and feet, it can all be managed.
