This location, and anything in Hawaiian Paradise Park is...
This location, and anything in Hawaiian Paradise Park is perfect for really getting away, however, it is NOT close to any stores, restaurants, etc. You need to be prepared with your own food. I have a friend who lives nearby, so it is perfect for me. I do recommend looking for fruit stands along the Pahoa highway, and Kaloli's restaurant in Orchidland. Pahoa is quaint and has more restaurants and grocery stores. It's worth a visit; not terribly touristy.

Lovely room with private bathroom.
Lovely room with private bathroom. We had access to all we would need to picnic or go out for the day including chairs, esky, beach gear. We enjoyed using the outdoor eating area. The neighbourhood is lovely and quiet and the ocean breeze is divine.
Host Andy was very helpful and welcoming.
Wonderful place, calm, tranquil, beautiful tropical nature, loved the nature sounds, the waterfalls vlose by and the botanical gardens in Hilo were all so beautiful, it was just an incredible experience!

Everything was great.
Everything was great. Lots of towels, things to cook with on a one pot burner, toaster/over/microwave/outdoor grill, full size refrigerator, and plenty of utensils. A nice large patio to sit on in the back, which is where the grill is. Also a large DVD collection and a washer and dryer access to use. It basically had everything you would want, except a full size stove, but it is not needed. Really could not be nicer place. Just know that it is 20 minutes out of town, but makes it quite quiet.

It was a quiet residential district convenient for both Hilo and the Volcano National Park. We enjoyed exploring along the Ocean's edge. You definitely need GPS or a mapping app on your phone to make the most of your visit.
Blue Hawaiian Rentals is a wonderful little slice of Paradise. Beautiful and well-maintained lush green property, and the room was clean and spacious. The locked front garden gate makes for a safe and private stay. Mini fridge with water, coffee maker with coffee pods, a microwave, and an enormous ceiling fan in the room all made for a very comfortable stay. I loved the nighttime “jungle noises” as I’ve been affectionately referring to them. Thank you again, Cindi! Top notch.
Breakfast was a full continental, serve-yourself buffet with good variety. Location across the street from the ocean was very nice, and why I picked it. Swimming in the little pool every night was awesome. It's so very quiet & dark I slept wonderfully. The hosts were fun, welcoming, helpful and very accommodating. I fully enjoyed talking with them. I was visiting a friend in the same subdivision (Hawaiian Paradise Park) and this place was the perfect solution.
What a fantastic alternative to a hotel! I can’t say enough about how easy and comfortable our stay was here. The owners were kind and accommodating and the accommodations were clean and in excellent condition. So tastefully decorated and the surrounding gardens were just beautiful. The ocean was just blocks away and the whole area was just so peaceful. Would stay here for very visit if I could! Perfect space for my teenage daughter and I.
The breakfast was amazing. Very tasty and many of the items aligned with a Hawaiian theme. The room and facilities were comfortable and extended the island theme. The hosts spent a comfortable amount of time with us and we especially appreciated their assistance to plan our tour options around the island. With their help, we saw some great sights, enjoyed some great restaurants, and spent quality relaxing time.
Very clean and well maintained room, good quality facilities. Having free parking, free laundry, coffee machine, minibar and microwave was a plus for us. walking distance to Pacific Ocean - amazing views of big waves breakers, great place to see sunrise. Loved having our morning coffee and Hawaiian cookies in the balcony. Very conveniently located if you are visiting the volcanoes national park.
- the whole place was so clean !!!
- access to laundry room with soap
- the mattress was unbelievably soft and comfortable
- the portable a/c in the room was really effective
- easy walk to Maku’u point for sunrise
- far away enough from Hilo to see stars and be in nature, but still easy enough access to the city and Hawaii Volcanoes
It’s a tucked away location but still a good hub for seeing some of the most beautiful parts of the Big Island. It’s close to some beautiful coastlines and a short drive to Hilo/Volcano. It was our first time in Hawaii and it felt like we got a more local perspective than expected, which is something we preferred.
The spirit of Aloha is alive at Ala Kai B&B. This property is hosted by warm and helpful owners; their ocean-view breakfasts from the upper deck were just right for our needs; and the location was ideal for visiting ohana in Keaau. We look forward to a return to this special, Big Island home!
