Everyone in the hotel was so nice. It really makes a huge difference. Wally, who was at the reception desk went above and beyond to make us comfortable and he was so helpful. But the award goes to the lovely lady making our breakfast Mariana. She was so sweet and the day we were leaving, she even packed us a little Picnic bag for the journey. what more can I say?

Rolling Hills, Magnificent Gardens and Sandy Beaches
On the north coast of Spain, the seaside city of Santander is the capital of Cantabria. This beautiful city has it all: from stunning beaches and green gardens to captivating museums and a bustling central area.
Overlooking the lighthouse of the Mauro Island, the popular sandy beach of Sardinero is divided by the gardens of Piquio. These magnificent gardens feature Canarian palm trees, blue eucalyptus and colorful flower beds.
Located on the Magdalena Peninsula, the imposing Palacio de la Magdalena has a neoclassic French and English style. Wander around the green gardens and visit the small zoo, home to penguins, seals and other sea animals.
The Cathedral of Santander is a historic landmark in the center of the city. Built between the 12th and 14th centuries, this historic monument consists of two Gothic churches. The Alameda de Oviedo Boulevard is a shopping paradise where you can find everything you need.
Enjoy a walk on the wide seaside promenade, where you'll find a big selection of cafés and restaurants to choose from. Booking.com offers a variety of hotels, guesthouses and apartments in the area. The international Santander Airport is the only one in Cantabria.

A handsome, friendly city which is undoubtedly underrated as a destination. Safe, clean, lots of varied sights, beautiful coastal walks right from the city centre. Inexpensive! Superb prehistoric museum. Bring a jacket / umbrella, it's cooler and wetter than elsewhere in Spain. Note: it is a very monolingual area: other than in hotels and the occasional individual in a shop or cafe, most people there speak ONLY Spanish!

This was our 3rd visit to Santander in 12 months. For £31 per person return flights from the UK, it is cheaper than staying at home.
Santander is a vibrant, fun and energetic city with plenty to occupy any visitor. The food options are to many to count and the bars are fun and friendly through the evening.

I saw lots of reviews recommending this town.
I saw lots of reviews recommending this town. It was not for me. The planetarium, which many raved about? Closed. Has been closed for a while, actually. And apparently when it was open, it wasn't open to walk-ins. Tour groups only, pre-booked, minimum of 5 people.
Many restaurants were reservation only, actually. Many more were closed.
Saw my first homeless tent encampment ten minutes after arriving in the city. Graffiti everywhere. So many ATMs on Google maps, marked closed. Shops closed or going out of business. "Rebajas" signs everywhere. So many multi-lingual beggars.
Lots of smashed windows, sadly. The town looked like some of the worse areas of other cities I've been to, but all over. Even the church, which was recommended as a very nice building, had homeless and beggars in it. I was there on Sunday (so many things closed) and Monday. For a place supposedly well known for it's meals of fresh fish, mine was bland at best. For a Spanish town, surprisingly few tapas places.

Santander is so quaint.
Santander is so quaint. The historic buildings are beautiful. There are so many bars, tapas bars and restaurants everything is so easy to find and within walking distance. It just felt so clean and just a lovely place to visit we will be back. We went to Bilbao for the day on the bus from the bus station, but pre book your seats as it’s always busy. It takes about 1.5 hours but well worth it then you can jump on the tram line into the centre
There were too many bars and restaurants to mention but the one right outside the hotel was wonderful too.

We used Santander as a base to explore prehistoric caves, historical sites and the surrounding parks. Six days barely got us started. I will say going in January worked well as temperatures were mild and rain was sporadic. We didn’t leave enough time to explore all the city but people were friendly, there were new things to see everywhere and the food is great.

My wife and I have visited Santander on several occasions,...
My wife and I have visited Santander on several occasions, but did not go into the city centre on this occasion as we wanted a hotel that was within a short journey to the airport for an early flight the following morning. The Hotel Chiqui facing the Sardinero beach fitted our requirements perfectly.
Modern and very clean rooms. Big bathroom with 2 sinks. Tasty national breakfast. You can make coffee or tea 24/7 at the breakfast line. Superb location near beautiful park of pines, and very close to El Sardinero beach. Hotel staff was careful and kind. Even if you will meet any questions or problems during your vacation in Santander, hotel staff will do everything to help you and answer all your questions. Especially big thanks to Jorge and Lara. Suite Home Pinares is definitely the best place to stay in Santander!!!
The hotel is conveniently located a bit outside the centre of Santander (just over 1 mile), directly by the beach (street between hotel and beach).
The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is very good.
The rooms could be a little bit bigger but after all we weren’t there to just stay in the room but to explore the area.
Contrary to the information by booking.com the parking was free (white zone).
There are frequent buses 50 m from the hotel into Santander downtown.
Overall we enjoyed our stay a lot
The hotel is located across the road from ferry terminal. Rail and bus stations are a 5 minute walk away. Very central location for shopping or walking on promenade. The Sardinera beach area is a 40 minute stroll away. There are plenty of buses going to beach area. All staff were polite, friendly and professional. We had a comfortable large room. The public areas are very nicely furnished. We have stayed in the hotel a few times and never been disappointed. I would recommend Hotel Bahia to family and friends.
A boutique hotel indeed, very small, but perfect for a short stay. Very comfortable and quiet, great facilities, immaculately clean. Parking was easy to find. The hotel is a 2 minute walk to a beautiful beach, and about a 10 minute drive to the ferry terminal. Theresa suggested a fish restaurant about 20 mins walk from the hotel, which was a fantastic experience. Also, the route takes you through an old tunnel under part of Santander. And a good selection for breakfast in the morning.
Very friendly and efficient staff on reception and in the restaurant. Breakfast was excellent - huge choice, presented very well at the buffet counters. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and very quiet. Location is excellent being close to the beaches and the Magdalene Peninsular, a pleasant 20 minute stroll into the city centre but also we would recommend La Cania restaurant opposite the hotel for excellent food and service.
Hotel Chiqui is in the perfect location for a city/beach holiday. The view from the terraced rooms overlooking El Sardinero beach is panoramic.
The room was clean and comfortable with complimentary cold filtered water available at the end of each corridor. Staff in the Panoramic Restaurant were very obliging. Though the name of the restaurant suggests a view this is not the case.
Reception staff were friendly and professional.
Hotel is in a great location close to restaurants and great transport.
Airport is 15 minutes away
Short bus ride to the beach
The hotel had a lovely view of the city really great.
Hotel was lovely and clean the hotel had a lovely aroma
Room was great and the shower was very powerful like you would have at home.
Love this hotel. Staff are really helpful. Allowed us to check in early after an horrendous journey.
Rooms comfortable, bathrooms supplied with lovely lotions etc. Great position, short walk to the sea front. A little oasis if calm. Excellent.
Parking 15 euros a night but worth it.
the location was perfect in the city center with parking close by, rooms and hotel decor are super nice and very cozy and comfortable with extra goodies in the room (dental kit, sleeping kit ect., breakfast was also good not a lot of options but still very decent.
Hotel staff was kind and willing to help and answer our requests. Really spatious room, bathroom really good and with a lot of space. Breakfast was also good, but nothing really special. Not far away from the beach, some restaurants close by.
Fantastic staff (both hotel and restaurant). Lovely big room. Great location for Santander's beaches. In its day this would have been a superb hotel, now it's looking a little tired but good value and we enjoyed our stay(and will book again)
Clean, spacious room (Junior Suite), sea view and really well located opposite beach in best part of Santander. good walks along coast from the property. plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. breakfast and dinner in hotel very good value.
The host was really kind, managed to explain all with the help of a translator app. The room was clean and comfortable although a bit hot (super good weather). The hotel is a good 20 min walk from the center of Santander. A good value!
Everything! Can’t believe I scored this. Right on the Square, soundproof, clean, very well designed and decorated, easy checking process , friendly staff. Easily the best value I’ve had in Spain over the last 30+ days.
Location was 10 minutes walking from Santander's center. I got a little bit late because of traffic and they waited for me. Very kind.
Everything in the house is cosy.
Excelent location! The hotel is outdated but the rooms have been updated and are very comfortable, with air conditioning and nice decoration! The breakfast was amazing
