At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laidback Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s arty South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just opposite is the towering skyline of Brisbane's CBD, where many hotels in Brisbane city centre are located.
Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. More shopping centres are found all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.
This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south you can hug one of the loveable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.
Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks – Wickham Park – contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the north-east, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.
As well as central accommodation, Booking.com also offers hotels near Brisbane Airport in a north-eastern coastal suburb.
We stayed in what would be considered the business district,...
We stayed in what would be considered the business district, just across the river to the South Side, which was within walking distance and had a wonderful riverside walking area, botanical garden, remnants of their World Expo, and museums. In a different direction, there was a closed street mall (where you could walk between buildings filled with shops and food stops). Every time we went out, we found free concerts and music: a singing competition, the Queensland Youth Orchestra, and even a free concert in the City Hall by the only Brass Orchestra in Australia. At one point, we even heard bagpipe music in the distance!
Walking around felt safe. The people at the Information centers were very helpful as well, and offered several maps, including a walking map with four options and help with any transportation questions. We opted to take a day tour to the Australia zoo, which was very reasonably priced and extremely impressive. All-iin-all it was the best ending to our time in Australia!

We were near Howard Smith Wharves which we had never been to. They were interesting though way overpriced for everything they offered. The area around was lots of coffee shops and a couple of small supermarkets. The river walk was great and we enjoyed it at night as we headed out for dinner then returned. Felt very safe at all times.

Lots of things to do in Brisbane, plus it is centrally located between the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast and also the Hinterland, with such places as Mount Tamborine and also Montville and Malaney are all just a day trip away . On the negative side it cost me a fortune in Road Toll fees and the traffic is horrendous.

The accommodation was great for what we wanted.
The accommodation was great for what we wanted. However, it stated we were staying in one building, but they booked us into a different block, and there was no off street parking as advertised on the booking. com website.

It's late May & still warm enough to wear shorts & Tee shirts. The City is not as big as Sydney & Melbourne, but the Pubs & restaurants are just as good as those cities. The Area under the Storey Bridge is nice to visit for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Ferry rides on the river & bike rides along the river are highly recommended.
Check-in was seamless and all the staff were genuinely happy, helpful and friendly. The location is the best in Brisbane for Southbank and car parking easily taken care of by the hotel valet service. Room was spacious, with latest tech fit out. Breakfast was wonderful with a good selection of eats with table service among the best.
Location was excellent - easy 10 minute walk to the city, but just on the outskirts that you wouldn't get the noise and bustle of the CBD. Across the road from The Barracks, and cute little restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is very luxe with mood lighting and an incredibly comfortable bed. Staff were also super helpful!
The Location of this hotel, in my opinion, is the best in Brisbane if you are looking for a night or two in the city. It is in the heart of Howard Smith Wharf and very close to the night spots of Brisbane. A short scooter ride will get you to Southbank. The staff were very friendly and the room was comfortable.
The location is walking distance to central Brisbane CBD and Southbank. There are lots of food places within walking distance. There is parking on site though limited spaces for $28/ night and a narrow typical city parking. There was a hair dryer and a straightener in my room. They provided toiletries.
The Location is perfect for access to Southbank and major CBD areas. Easy walking distances make exploring a breeze. Hotel Staff were incredibly friendly and very helpful! Extreme Value for money! Free parking and easy access to the parking garage is 100 percent a plus for this location.
It is only a 30 minute walk along the river to the City, South Bank or Brisbane's West.
The apartments were a good size, equipped with washing machine and dryer - neat and tidy.
There are also quite a few cafes and restaurants nearby - shout out to the bunker for best coffee.
The hotel was located close to CityCat and Ferry services, close to Fortitude Valley and other CBD services. The room was spacious and matched the images online. The Hotel staff were professional, friendly and helpful in navigated directions to specific locations in the area.
The Milton is in an ideal location- above a train station with easy access to the CBD, the river and other parts of Brisbane.
The apartment itself is excellent- comfortable and well appointed, with an excellent kitchen which is better equipped than other serviced apartments.
Located right at Southbank. Stunning views of Brisbane River. Buffet breakfast was a great start for the day. Valet parking was great as we didn't need our car until.we left to come home..Room clean and comfortable.
Walking distance to free ferry..easy walk to cbd
Close to the Northshore Eat Street was a bonus, plus Fortitude Valley, Brisbane CBD and Southbank were nearby as well. Had loads of places to go within a short distance of driving.
Room was awesome for the price, comfortable bed, aircon was a major plus
The staff were very helpful and the apartments were clean and well-appointed. The hotel's in a great location – it's a ten-minute walk from the Queensland Children's Hospital (where our son was being treated), South Bank train station, and shops.
Comfortable location with immediate access to Brisbane CBD, stunning view from the window, especially in the evening, spaceous room, cleanliness, access to swiming pool on 66th floor with stunning overviw of the whole city
Very nice hotel, friendly check-in staff, roomy apartment, very comfortable beds, large flat screen TV's in every room, espresso machine, walking distance to the shopping area of CBD, or a bit further to Southbank.
Very good breakfast with plenty of choices
Hotel is right in the middle of. CBD and all the shopping.
Few minutes walk across the bridge to Southbank
few blocks away from central station
Good views from the room
Very cool & modern hotel in the CBD overlooking the river and Southbank. Great attention to detail in room fitout. Certainly more interesting & fun than its muted contemporaries. Highly recommend.
I always stay at Meriton Apar4tments when travelling domestically in Australia. The hotel locations are within easy reach of the CBD and offer best value for money expended.
