Jasper sits in a green valley within a national park surrounded by the majestic Canadian Rockies. Water in its various forms has shaped the dramatic scenery and continues to create serene landscapes.
Tree-lined Lake Beauvert is the closest to town, but Pyramid and Patricia lakes are more famous thanks to the rugged peaks perfectly reflected in their still waters. Arguably the best of all is Maligne Lake whose incredible water colour is eclipsed by small, pine-lined Spirit Island. You may not know the name, but you’ll probably recognise the view.
Many glaciers come off the huge Columbia Icefield, roughly midway between Jasper and Lake Louise. Some have cut canyons where you can go ice walking. Other winter sports include ice skating and skiing at the Marmot Basin resort, named after local animals.
Bears inhabit the surrounding forests and more wildlife lives at The Den at Whistler Inn, just one Jasper accommodation option on Booking.com alongside mountain lodges and pet-friendly hotels with pools.
The Jasper Tramway – Canada’s highest cable car – goes to the top of The Whistlers mountain, and on the slopes of another are the Miette Hot Springs open-air pool. The Jasper-Yellowhead Museum details the area’s history, and traditional Haida styles and colours are celebrated in the modern Two Brothers Totem Pole

With a small town atmosphere guided by the Park Services, downtown Jasper caters to the moderate visitor population. Plenty of dining options across various cultural venues as well as price range. Excursions in and out of town are plentiful and those several I took were stunning and worthwhile.

Parking....
Parking.... There is free parking outside hotel to load/unload for limited time, but it's hit and miss as to whether it's available as you pass by. As it's a dual carriageway, not worth the effort unless you are disabled etc. Even then still not guaranteed of course.
Best to park in car park that is literally across the road.
App was no good for a UK visitor.
Use the bar code thingy it works well.
Chargeable after 09.00.
But once you have used bar code once you can pay from across the road in your room.
Putting aside the fact it's chargeable it works well and is a big carpark.
Go on streetview to see the lie of the land.

Jasper is a more rustic mountain town than Banff or Canmore, which are in the Banff National Park (Canmore just out of the park boundaries). There are lots of places to visit outside of the town within easy driving distances. The town has many interesting restaurants and shops, and many places in which to stay. Camping is available nearby.

We love Jasper .
We love Jasper . It's welcoming with local smaller stores and the views of the mountains are amazing. We would recommend the Pizza place and the family run L and W restaurant with a large variety of food we really enjoyed.
Not all stores are accessible for people in wheelchairs as they have steps to get into the store. One store allowed me to take t-shirts just outside there open door to show my daughter while they watched .

The lakes are worth seeing.
The lakes are worth seeing. There are several that are very photogenic - lake Annette for instance. The town itself is quite scenic, though nothing close to say the Austrian Tyrol. The SkyTrain is vastly overpriced for what it is.
I used to stay here with my family when I was a kid. I ended up coming back here to say as it has lots of memories for me. It is still a great place to stay in Jasper. We were in the loft suite and had the fireplace which was nice (you get one log each day which lasts about 2 hours). The pool facility was great (main pool, small kids pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna). The cooking unit was well-stocked so we cooked all of our breakfasts here. It was close to walk downtown and central to access different areas of Jasper. Staff were friendly.
Jasper Lodge is ideal for families and had we known this, we probably would have extended our stay. We stayed in a cabin on the property overlooking the lake and it really accommodated our family of 4 well. The kids loved the outdoor pool and had so much fun. My husband even got a haircut while there!
We stayed at all 3 Fairmont Hotels in the Rockies and surprisingly liked Jasper the best. The other lodges are magnificent, but for our family (kids aged 11 and 15) Jasper was perfect.
Loved the property! Pet friendly but the cabins have carpet 😳 we were assigned a cabin by the road. Had I known, would have asked to specifically book one behind the office/restaurant. Due to covid, hot springs were closed! Yay! Not droves of traffic and people. Wild life in the area. Beautiful country. The amenities and authentic Greek cuisine was a huge diamond in the rough. Pleasant experience. Hospitality was top notch! Thank you!
I believe, the Hotel is on the way to be most best and perfect staying place in Jasper… pls continue your great hospitality and professionality to welcome and manage the global visitors/guests from around the world.
Especially the Hotel General Manager has always open ear for guest‘s feedback and handle it with high profesionality.
THANK YOU to made our greatest experience in Jasper ever !…. :)
This hotel is around for ages and just cool. Forget hostels. Restaurant, 2 pubs downstairs with great vibe and fair prices for rooms with shared facilities. We are backpacker. Loved it. I really regret that we cancelled one night. Jasper had more to offer than we thought. Take your time for this beautiful little town and enjoy the surrounding and stay in this hotel. Just perfect !!!
The view is absolutely spectacular. One of the best views out of most hotels and Jasper and Banff. It's an incredible, magical location. The main lodge has a gorgeous, chalet style area where you check in with a big old stone wood burning fireplace. There is a beautiful deck, overlooking the mountains and trees. Restaurant is delicious.
Nice clean, quiet modern room with 3 beds and a good bathroom. Breakfast was good, better selectoin than in other hotels. At the south end of the Jasper townsite, within 5 minutes walk to the first shops and restaurants and 10 minutes to the town center.
After staying in more hotel-like accommodations throughout our trip, we enjoyed having more of a "home" feel at Jasper House Bungalows. The location was perfect (along the Icefields Parkway) and it was incredibly convenient to have a restaurant on-site.
This was the second time that we stayed at the Crimson Jasper. The location is excellent within walking distance of the majority of restaurants and tourist attractions. I would highly recommend this hotel for first time tourists to Jasper, Alberta.
Cabin is not new, but clean and very cozy. Gift shop has many nice things, and restaurant offer a nice dinner, both are in the same building with office.
Lodge's location makes it easy to access many beautiful points in Jasper National Park.
The room was great and can’t beat the location. Compared to other hotels farther from the centre of Jasper it was expensive, but worth the short walk to the action and the room was much nicer and bigger than other locations I’ve stayed.
Great hotel, although not in Jasper it is very near (around 6km). Room was a small apartment, including a small kitchen and also a fireplace. Place was clean and comfy. Parking available inside the property. View were also great
This is a nice hotel close to the Miette hot springs and Jasper (about 25 minute drive). The location is the best feature. Our room had a separate bedroom and living area. The pool area, games and fire pits are nice.
This was our first time in Jasper. A big part of the hotel was remodeled had one of the new rooms so we felt like in a luxury hotel. Beds very comfy and staff very friendly mostly the girl in the front desk.
The hotel is located in the centre of Jasper. Walking distance to restaurants and supermarkets.
There is washing machine and dryer to do your own laundry and it is very cheap
Very cute cabins with a great brewery nearby at walking distance. Loved the fireplace. Good location to explore Jasper National Park and nearby supermarkt and gas station.
Excellent location and friendly staff. The price is a little on the higher end, but otherwise, it is a good place to stay during a visit to Jasper National Park.
