FAQs about hotels in Melbourne

Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

Chinatown's Shanghai Street restaurant on Little Bourke has great food & although often full, they're very organized & you typically only wait 10 or 15 minutes for a table. The food is worth the wait! Melbourne is very easy to get around on public trams & trains & has very good shopping & a high standard for food/restaurants. The lanes & arcades in the city are really worth checking out for hidden foodie spots. The Free Range Zoo at Werribee is a great experience - you can get close to African animals roaming freely in their own habitat

The location of the Grand Hotel was great. The hotel is walking distance to Southbank, the CBD and the Casino and there are plenty of cafes close by. Trams are within a few minutes walk which service the whole of Melbourne and also St Kilda beach. The facilities at the hotel are excellent, the rooms are big so there is plenty of space to move around, and the pool and sauna was a great way to relax after spending the day walking around.
