FAQs about hotels in Bristol

From Brunel to Banksy!

Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol features Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the Avon River. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbor, where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.

Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I registered historic Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St. Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centers at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.

As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.

Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artist Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodations, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.

This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath rail line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.

We stayed in the floating harbour area of Bristol which is busy and has a vibrant night life. It is also pretty central for getting to Bristol old centre and the shops. Walking and cycling is very easy around the city - special bike lanes and lots of bikes and scooters to hire. Great choice of restaurants within walking distance - we ate at COR and Box E. Both were excellent.

Bristol was fine, as always. I was there for a funeral, so I did not visit any of the attractions. I had paid for a second night, but went home, because the place I was staying in was so unsatisfactory.

We stopped off in Bristol for the night on our way to Pembrokeshire from Brighton. I would definitely recommend a stay in Bristol. In our short time we walked along the River Avon to see Banksy's Girl with Pearl Earring and the scenic Clifton Suspension bridge. The Clifton area of Bristol is beautiful with Georgian mansion houses alongside wide roads. We popped into the lovely Greville Smyth Park where my 14 year old (and I) had a play in the playground.

Great vibrant city - live music, comedy, restaurants, bars, museums - it’s got the lot. 100% recommend the Mshed museum (free entry) to learn about Bristol’s history, to explore the waterfront area with its bars and restaurants, see a Banksy or two, and climb Cabot Tower for 360degree views out over the city and surrounding areas!

A very characterful and vibrant city, albeit confusing to motorists due to poor decisions by the Council on road layouts. Best to take the park and ride which we would have done had the Council allowed you to leave your car overnight.

Lovely couple of buildings in a great location opposite Victoria Square park. And also extremely close to Clifton Suspension bridge (an easy walk). Got the no. 8 bus from Bristol Temple Meads to right outside the hotel. The bus stop on the opposite side of the road takes you back down the hill to the city centre and back to the station. It only took me 20 minutes to walk into the centre from the hotel. Although my room was tiny, the bed was comfortable and the shower worked well.

For the cost of the room, I was pleasantly surprised at all aspects of this lovely hotel. The greeting when checking in was friendly and welcoming, the room was perfect for a short stay in Bristol and the location ideal for the harbourside and city centre (if you don't mind a short uphill walk up Park Street).
