--> ATTENTION: WE CAN SLEEP UP TO 4 ADULTS Via Toscanella is a hidden narrow street in the popular quarter of Santo Spirito, quiet and calm, still tasty of the genuine popular flavour of old Florence. Our Toscanella Royal Suite is dedicated to this street, and the Suite has all the windows with a full view on via Toscanella, from Sdrucciolo de' Pitti till the very renowned Piazza della Passera, just 20m away. You wille njoy the daily life of florentine inhabitants, of old artisan labs and small shops where they sell their handcrafts. This street has a long story to tell. Across the centuries there was an ancient roman spring, still used during the meddle-age, where nearby the famous writer and poet Giovanni Boccaccio, the author of the Decameron, is told to be born in the year 1313. A marble plate is posed to identify the exact place. More recently in the early years of 1900, the "futurist" painter and writer Ottone Rosai (born 1895) had his studio in via Toscanella, from where he painted several personal interpretations view of the street, including the building the Toscanella Royal Suite is part of. He wrote a few novels published around 1930 and entitled "via Toscanella and other stories".

We are in "Oltrarno" part of Florence, in "Stanto Spirito" quarter, the most popular and genuine, where you can still feel the authentic spirit of florentine people. The Oltrarno is the part of Florence located on the other side of the river Arno with respect to Palazzo Vecchio, where the Middle Age governors of the city and still todays Major have their offices. The Oltrarno is made of two main quarters: Santo Spirito and San Frediano, both famous for their lively "movida". The Oltrarno is the only part of the city where most of the medioeval city walls are still there, whilst on the other side of the city they where removed in the years 1860 when Florence was the capital of the Italian Kingdom and it needed larger streets for the expanding city to be fitting the model of a "Royal Capital" for its King. At those times the King took its residence in Palazzo Pitti, just 1 min walk for the Toscanella Royal Suite, which became the Royal Palace.
