FAQs about hotels in Buenos Aires

Tango for Your Senses

Cosmopolitan and trendy with South American essence and European charm, Buenos Aires represents the living image of tango: elegant yet passionate and nostalgic. Surrounding its harbor and vastly populated by immigrants from the Old Continent, it is a faithful image of Argentina’s typical ethnic patchwork.

The enormous relief of Evita’s face at 9 de Julio Avenue, La Boca's humble and colorful streets, the stylish buildings along Avenida de Mayo, or the modernly refurbished docks in Puerto Madero: Buenos Aires is an exciting and captivating city, full of history and full of stories.

Some of the finest Buenos Aires hotels are located near the Casa Rosada, in the Montserrat district. A few blocks south, you can find hotels in San Telmo mixing modern style and old-fashioned architecture.

Just outside the center in Recoleta, there are beautiful early 20th-century hotels, mansions and embassies surrounded by greenery. Palermo hotels include a vast array of apartments, hostels and small boutique accommodations.

After arriving at Ezeiza International Airport, enjoy the rhythm of Buenos Aires and its many cultural offerings, fashionable shopping streets, its huge variety of restaurants, and the busy nightlife.

City is just booming, even on winter time, too many brazilians but that is easy to go around if you go off track from the main touristic spots, overall you get a great value for dollars and euros when coming over when it comes to food, drinks and entertaiment, not really sure about shopping or electronics if that is the focus. Highly reccomend open events, such as the tuesdays/thursdays movie nights at the National Congress Library. For Japanese food lovers, there are a few spots at the city centre where you can get all you can eat cold dishes buffet/a la carte for under 30U$, also do make sure you enjoy the local brewery scene along with promotional prices on national wines and the traditional bitters porteños much fancy.

BA is a very cosmopolitan city with many things to see and do. Not as cheap as I was told it would be. Many of the well known tourist attractions charge a bit too much just to get in. Don't bother exchanging money just put it on your CC. Great to get around using the Subte, uber, or just walking as sidewalks are in good condition. Some have said the BA is dangerous to cross the street. Ignore them if you're already accustomed to look before your cross but if you're someone who walks around with your face burried in your phone make sure you have travel insurance and your will is up to date. Dress like the locals to avoid getting harassed by beggars (think Italian or New Yorker / all black).

Buenos Aires is a whole magical world of its own!

Buenos Aires is a whole magical world of its own! Down-to-earth, in touch with reality, no-nonsense yet cosmopolitan and vibrant and with a glocal feel to it. Beautiful tango vibes, rich Latin American boom literature, a fantastic cultural and culinary scene, splendid architecture in this great Paris of the South, and brainy yet approachable, worldly and pleasant people where the best experience is to get to know the city walking. Next chapter; to become a porteño myself! Viva Argentina!/ Dr Jytte Holmqvist

It is sort of safe but you must be vigilant with who is approaching you or when purchasing from individuals or small businesses. Always ask for a receipt. Travelling with Uber is the cheapest far from taxis. Taxies frequently take advantage of foreign travellers (happened to me). The city is reasonably clean and the people are friendly (very). There are public transports everywhere which use a card called SUBE (to be purchased in Kiosks and charged in subway, train stations and kiosks and for not to be ripped-off, ask for receipt after pay, then check the balance from next by machines). For my experience, BA was safe and very comfortable.

The location of the hotel in a quiet area of Recoleta is close to a number of interesting streets, restaurants and within walking distance to the cemetery of Recoleta. The staff was helpful in extending our stay as flights were cancelled due to an airport staff strike. Pleasant hotel with good value for the money.
