"Exceptional Stay with Great Service!" Breakfast was truly one of the highlights—delicious with an amazing variety that catered to all tastes. The location couldn’t be better—convenient and close to everything we needed. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Wataniya and Mutaz, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. Excellent Stay and Exceptional Service Our stay at the hotel was truly outstanding. We encountered a minor issue with our room, but the staff went above and beyond to make things right — we were upgraded twice and even offered a complimentary dinner. The level of customer service was exceptional; the staff genuinely go out of their way to ensure your comfort and satisfaction. The hotel’s location is superb, the food is delicious, and everything is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. A special thanks to Mr. Mohamed Gamal, the duty manager, who handled our concerns with remarkable professionalism and care. His dedication made a real difference in our experience.

FAQs about hotels in Cairo

Resting Place of Pharaohs

Born of an ancient civilization, Cairo is a vast metropolis centered around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.

The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including finds from Tutankhamen's tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

East is Islamic Cairo, home to the 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk (remember to haggle). The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.

If you need a break from cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.

Before heading to your Cairo accommodations, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

The history around Cairo is interesting.

The history around Cairo is interesting. I enjoyed the street food as well. There needs to be a campaign to clean up portions of the area. The trains to and from Luxor were dirty. The toilets were filthy. Apart from these annoyances I found the experience good. Most of the people were friendly but as elsewhere in the world , you must watch out for scammers and touts.

Cairo has many interesting sights to see but be warned!

Cairo has many interesting sights to see but be warned! There are so many people living in the city that there is an aggressive culture of approaching tourists and offering 'free' services/products/assistance, but this is a scam. If you accept anything be prepared to have to pay, as you'll be hassled to give them something in return. US dollars seem to be the universal objective, as they're extremely dismissive of their own currency. This issue is everywhere. Everyone is on the make, so if you want to see the sights, do so in an organised tour, or be prepared to be firm and resolute in your dealings. It becomes really tiresome, very quickly, otherwise. 😞

The Pyramids are a must see, no picture or description can capture the experience. The museums with the ancient Egypt collection are just split to 3, hard to find and see everything. The Famous Koshary Abou Tarek is a good restaurant with a shot deal of food variety. A dinner cruise on the Nile is a good program, do not miss it! The only disappointment was the bazaar, it was full of boxes labeled 'made in China'...

Things have changed at Giza pyramids.

Things have changed at Giza pyramids. The entrance has moved. Good news you will not be bothered by people trying to sell you things on site. Shuttle busses run around the site. Expect to tip $US1 or E£50 to use toilets. New museum has opened near Giza but best exhibits are not yet open. Leaving via Cairo airport is a security nightmare.

The best location in Cairo downtown, close to the Old Egyptian Museum, several metro stations. There were many shops, restaurants and cafe bars nearby. The building itself has elevator, so that is easy to go to the 6th floor where the hostel is. The breakfast was better than in other downtown hotels in Cairo, and vary every morning! The staff is friendly and does not harass you with travel offers like elsewhere in Egypt. (Thanks!)

We really enjoyed this small Airbnb close to the Pyramids (Walking distance) Youssef and his staff took care of us with great hospitality and the airport transfer went very well. We stayed on 3 hotels during our stay in egypt and this is the only one that we had a positive experience. The other 2 are both 5 star hotels so Sequoia even with no stars is 1000 times better than some of the big ones.
