We really loved the family rooms - they were warm despite the cold temperatures. The hot water systems (i.e. the showers) were excellent. Finding the hotel and accessing the car park was also very easy. The restaurant (the spiral) also served very high quality food. The cost of the rooms was outstanding value for money.

Set in National Park, Mountain Heights Lodge offers six self-contained motel units and four ensuite B&B rooms, BnB rooms welcomes children over the age of 14 and above. Private parking is free.

The hostess was accommodating and cheerful. The room was clean (a bit worn), and functional. It is located about 15 minutes from the National Park. When our track was rained out they were able to accommodate us again on short notice!

The staff were incredible, especially the reception staff and housekeeper. The location is ideal both for having places to eat within walking distance and easy driving distance to the main attractions. The hotel offers shuttle to the Crossing, so it was super convenient in the morning and they were highly knowledgeable as they had done it themselves and they had eaten in all the places in town we asked about.

Very comfortable private room with heating and clean sheets etc. The showers and toilets were clean. The main kitchen was beautiful with everything that you might need. Lovely lounge areas with a cozy feel to them.

The Powderhorn Chateau is located in Ohakune, at the entrance to Tongariro National Park.
