We stayed there for two nights, and it was one of the best hotels we have been to in our life. The hotel is located approximately 20 minutes walk from the Ogotoonsen Train station. However, the hotel provides free shuttle bus service from and to the train station. Just inform them beforehand. The hotel itself is beautiful inside. But the most wonderful are the people working there - everyone, be it check-in staff, kitchen staff or service staff - went above and beyond to provide fantastic, friendly service and comfortable stay for their guests. They readily answered our inquiries and were very kind. For example, they brought us to the Sakamoto the day after our arrival so that we could take the Sakamoto Cable Car to explore the Mount Hie. We booked the Junior Suite with Open-Air Hot Spring Bath. The room is large and gorgeous, with a separate bedroom and living room. The semi-open hot spring bath had a lovely view of Lake Biwa and starry heaven at night. It is also a very quiet location, so the feeling was truly magical while bathing at night. All necessary amenities are provided: Toothbrushes, hair and body products, several yukatas in our size and great tea and coffee. Our room booking also included dining in a private room with a several-course menu. This brings us to the next point: The food. The chef and the other kitchen staff are true artists. The unique kaiseki style meals, be it breakfast or dinner, were always presented elegantly. The fresh and generous meals represented the very best of the best of Japanese Omi region cuisine and were absolutely delicious. Many compliments to the staff! We felt very fresh and recharged after our stay. Thank you very much, lovely Biwako Hanakaido Team! To recommend and to come back.

Biwako Ryokusuitei offers Japanese-style/Western rooms with Lake Biwako views, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Good location, friendly staff, good selection of food. Nice public and private baths!

The house was beautifully designed and very cozy to spend time in. The beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen had everything you need!

Guesthouse Kinari was exceptional and we are so thankful we had the opportunity to stay at this lovely space. It also serves as a center for the community children and also persons with disabilities to gather, and spaces like this are so important for the community as everyone is able to use the space. The room we stayed in was also really comfortable and spacious, with great beds and a big toilet that comes with a bathtub! The entire facility is yours and in the morning, people from the community also gather in the facility and we even got to enjoy the loveliest breakfast of onigiri and miso soup together. The owner also provided a personal guide of places to see in the neighbourhood that was really insightful. I cannot stress how grateful we are to have been able to stay here and we are so thankful to the people who continue to work so hard at Guesthouse Kinari so that everyone can feel right at home at this space. The facilities were excellent. An Onsen was a two minute walk and a train station was 5 - 10 minutes. A lake was nearby and the local area was very pleasant. Access went well.

Thanks to their hospitality, I had a great trip during my stay.😆 When I have time, I’ll definitely come back and visit.

Everything was amazing, the staff are so friendly, and could communicate with us in English which was appreciated. Food was delicious, we opted for the vegan menu, presentation and attention to detail were great. We stayed in a Japanese style room and had meals in our room, the futon beds were comfortable, the in room onsen and massage chair made for a relaxing stay. The room had beautiful views of the lake and staying here was an experience I won’t forgot, worlds away from the crowds of Tokyo and Osaka.
