Absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived and were welcomed into this little corner of paradise by Riann we knew we had made the right decision. The Swallows Rest is a lovely cottage, with great views, in a fabulous location. The sound of lions roaring just behind the house only added to the enjoyment. The outdoor shower and wood-fired hot tub just completed the full package. We loved having our own space, cooking our own meals in this magnificent setting. When we had difficulty lighting the wood for the hot tub and contacted Riann he had lighters and kindling delivered within minutes. You couldn’t ask for a more responsive host. We also took the opportunity to pre-book the animal encounter and were superbly looked after by Shané. Her understanding of the animal welfare, behaviours, psychology and conservation gave us an extraordinary insight into the animals in her care. We had the opportunity to get up close with zebra, caracal, cheetahs, ostriches and an albino porcupine and to see lions, spotted hyena and meerkats - an experience I will never forget. We just wished that we had booked a longer stay!

The cottage had everything that you needed to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle. It was very clean, had beautiful views and the friendly farm Doggo was definitely the cherry on the cake! Would 110% recommend anyone to stay at the cottage and Erika was a good host from the moment we made a booking.

Its character, beauty, comfort, cleanliness, amenities and little extras like the aroma of saponera soap in the cottage, the fresh eggs and sourdough bread from the farm waiting in the kitchen, the lovely gardens, the historical open fireplace and low wood beams.

Everything was so great. Beds super comfortable (had the best night sleep of the holiday here) and homemade food delicious, our favourite was the lamb shank. Garden was tranquil, the perfect place to have a cup of tea and homemade carrot cake! Annie greeted us on check in and was so kind, all the other staff were super friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Alison and Barry and their 3 happy dogs made you feel at right at home. Would definitely recommend and make sure to add a hike with Andreas and Patrick too!!

We had a very warm welcome. Thugh there was load sharing so no power, they had alerted us beforehand and prepared an excellent welcome dinner, heated on the gas stove, with a very fine red from their vineyard. The chalet was well equipped with a patio looking out over the gardens and the vineyards todistant hills. We spent a happy morning birdwatching around the gardens and small river before heading on.

The staff were exceptional. Unfortunately we were very sick when we were there, "they were very concerned about us. Drove us to a doctor & the next day drove us to the hospital. They went above & beyond in their care of us. A special thanks to Kenneth & Godfrey!
