I ended up checking in close to 10, owner was understanding about the delay. Showed me around hotel- cafe nextdoor open until 1am has 10+ cats to pat! There’s bicycles to use and free wine too. If you’re going to cat island next morning owner will drive you to ferry port and pick you up after the ferry ride/drop you off at ishinomaki station. Also took us to a bakery where he bought us each a bread for lunch. Highly recommend

Tokinenoyado Yunushi Ichijoh is situated in the Kamasaki Onsen district in Shiroishi, a 15-minute drive from Shiroishi Station and Shiroishi-Zao Station. The staff were incredibly accommodating, their care and attention made our visit relaxed and joyful, the Kaiseki was excellent and well balanced, showcasing local delicacies and providing an excellent view into tradition. Being able to use the Onsen with a tattoo and not having to cover it up was a pleasant surprise, the Onsen was excellent and very clean (I only used the outside pool). We were picked up by their free shuttle bus at the Shinkansen station and dropped off as well. We have to thank all of the staff, but a special mention should be given to Meguro, who took great care of us.

Superlative location, right in front of Matsushima bay. The place is quiet and incredible, the staff are so kind and patient (despite of my basic Japanese, they have always tried to help me), the service is excellent. They have also adjusted the delicious breakfast for me (gluten and lactose intolerance). The room was big and with a magic view. In the main hall there is a souvenir shop with a lot of things and local products to buy. If you want, is possible to reserve and enjoy the private onsen (open-air!). This is definitely the best hotel in Matsushima! どうも ありがとう ございます。
