Filip is an incredibile host. The room is clean, well located and has the best shower we had in our entire stay in Senegal. Breakfast was fantastic, there was aircon, a silent fan, a washing machine and Filip was always around to help.

I booked Maison Fimela after travelling in Senegal for two weeks, wanting to end the trip by visiting the UNESCO listed Saloum Delta. I’m very glad I did. This was the best accommodation I stayed in, with the best food and hospitality of the entire trip. The place feels like an oasis for birdwatching, and I especially enjoyed meditating and listening to the birdsongs. Nature focused travellers will love it, and the Saloum Delta itself is not to be missed (although I saw more birds in the lagoon in front of the hotel than during my delta excursion) Chloé was very helpful in organising my excursions and arranging a taxi to the airport. I have no complaints at all and was very happy with my stay.

Everythiiiiing: The owners were adorable, some of the most positive and good-hearted people I ever met. The room/bungalow we had was amazing and very functional. The staff is very nice and caring. The pools were very clean as well as our room. It looked like paradise on Earth. It was so relaxing to be there, I wish we had stayed longer. They took the time to even book us some day trips with some tourist guides they know, and we were not disappointed. They took very good care of us, and we had some unforgettable moments and lifetime experiences. The owners trusted us with the drinks, and we felt like home, just like the meaning of the word KOUNZO. Please take the time to sit and chat with the owners as this is - 1st of all - not a typical cold B&B but rather a big warm international family. 2dly - they are so knowledge of life and have a couple of amazing stories to tell. So get the right spirit while visiting them, not matter if you go with your partner, a group of friends, or your family. We left our hearts there and with eyes full of tears of joy. Amazing place. Of course you have to know what to expect, which is a rustic stay on the countryside, but while things are basic everything is clean and functions properly, and the atmosphere is unique. The staff treated our kids like family, playing with them and letting them help around the house :) also they were super helpful in organizing activities and travel arrangements. will definitely come again!

The location of the lodge is simply stunning. It sits right on the water, surrounded by nature, and you can see all kinds of beautiful birds throughout the day. The property itself is extremely clean and stylish, with a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that makes it very easy to unwind. The food is delicious, and the breakfast is especially wholesome with plenty of variety. I loved watching the birds come by in the morning as if they were coming to say hello. The rooms are very comfortable and I slept incredibly well during my stay. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating. Even though my French is almost zero, they always made an effort to understand me and made me feel very welcome. There is honestly nothing bad to say — this place is a little paradise. I truly hope to come back one day. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.
