The location is in France...and getting there from Switzerland was a long ride. For some reason I did not get the last email they sent (im sure they sent it but my email was probably not right). Very few food joints in the locality. Found an Italian at 20 mins walk which had amazing pizzas. The walk to the airport is between 20 to 25 minutes for those that have a big bag this is a huge consideration and you enter on the French side but go up a floor and then the Swiss and French sides communicate at Basel airport. The flat itself is amazing. Dont get fooled by the lock box at the gate. Go inside to the back of the property and use the lock box there. There are four beds in one room but the lounge is huge and the kitchen very well stocked. Wish we had more time to enjoy the property...the owners certainly need to be patted on their backs for maintaining it well. On the way to the airport we did walk past a tram station so some may be able to use that. Kitchen very well stocked with microwave, fridge, dishwasher and Netflix

we liked everything from this apartment. it was very near the train station. it was very spacious for 5 people but even for more since it has 4 beds in one room and 2 in the other. apartment was heated and the host very welcoming and available for any of our questions. supermarket is 8 min walk. overall 10/10

It is a nice little town.
It is a nice little town. I only stayed here to be close to the airport since I was attending a conference in Basel.
The afternoon and first night after arrival I had a nice lunch at the bar in town and dinner at the Italian restaurant.
People are very friendly and helpful at the town.

I had only one night there and my flight was at 7.00 in the morning.
Breakfast buffet was ready at 4.30, when I came downstairs, so it was possible to have coffee and to eat something.

The property is conveniently located opposite the tram stop, with easy access to Basel or beyond if you want to go to Colmar or Strasbourg by train - only one tram stop to the train station. Short bus ride to the Mulhouse EuroAirport . The property is well maintained , clean, with everything you ll need in the kitchen, bathroom, etc. quite spacious. The host responded very efficiently to all our needs and questions. Highly recommend.

If you stay in Hégenheim, France, to visit Basel, Switzerland, and you rent a car, you will have to pay an extra daily fee to cover the multiple border crossings you will be making, and the fee is not insubstantial. In addition, I heard that local taxis will not cross the border. I did not experience that, but it's something to ask about and be aware of. I don't know if the no-border-crossing issue affects shared-car services like Uber as well. Crossing the border with your own rental car is problem-free, as the border crossings are not restricted or controlled in any way. However, be aware that a pass needs to be used to park in some parking lots, such as at shopping centers where supermarkets are located. The rental car agency may provide you with the pass for free, but you have to figure out how to use it.

We used this location to spend time in Basel.
We used this location to spend time in Basel. Main train station had a tram that went to Basel every 15 minutes. Make sure you travel with your passport if you are going to go to Switzerland or France as passports are being checked itermittendly at the borders. Our property was approx. a 20 min walk to the trainstation. Flat city, many shops and restaurants along the way. If you go at Christmas time, the Christmas market was at the front of the hotel.

The Xmas market is a lot smaller but is nice enough, for a weekend break or you can go on to Colmar or Strasbourg by train or transfer which is what we did.
We saw all the main things in Basel within two days.

If you have an early morning flight then make sure not to rely on Uber. Book a taxi in advance. I very nearly missed my 6am flight (which was a reschedule after a cancellation the evening before) as there were NO Ubers around at 3am. I was lucky I didn't need to check baggage otherwise I would definitely have missed it. You cannot walk to the airport from here - even though it is right next to the airport - which is massively frustrating.

I am French so I was happy to stay in France while visiting Basel. Because of the poor experience we had in the apartment, we moved to another one in Switzerland. We found a very charming village with beautiful architecture and nature around. Switzerland must have been wealthier than this part of France for a long time and it shows.
