Karrawa Guest House is set in the town of Kirkwall, less than 1 mile from the town centre and within 2.5 miles of the airport and ferry terminal. All very good indeed, particularly the fantastic wide bay parking, powerful shower with loads of hot water, and the bacon at breakfast! Even had a wee book shelf which my elderly father made good use of. I recommend this guest house to all.

The house is so cosy and I'm sure there was some real efforts into putting it together. There was a lovely basket of tea, coffee and biscuits waiting for us, a book full of information about the house and Orkney and the house was spotless. Very clean and smelled lovely.

Set in Kirkwall, Orkney, family-run Ayre Hotel & Ayre Apartments overlooks Kirkwall harbour. It offers local produce in its restaurant and traditionally styled rooms, with free Wi-Fi. Spotlessly clean, uncluttered - everything we needed, nothing we didn't. Spacious
Murray Arms Hotel is set in Saint Margarets Hope and features a garden and a bar. This 3-star hotel offers free WiFi. The restaurant serves Local cuisine. The service was fantastic, and we really appreciated the packed lunch offered and supplied as we had...
We visited Orkney out of season, staying in Kirkwall, in January, and most of the attractions etc outwith Kirkwall were closed. We hired a car and getting round the islands was easy, the roads are in great condition, signposting was clear - which made getting lost difficult, however we didn't have time to use the ferries and visit the islands only accessible this way - something for us to do on a return visit. The weather was very kind to us (sunny, though cold, and practically wind free) which allowed us to have a fantastic sightseeing trip by air - this was run by Loganair, and we would definitely recommend this as it gives a wonderful perspective on the number of islands and the remoteness of some of these. We would love to go back and do this again during 1 of the summer months. The Italian Chapel was another "not to be missed" highlight for us - very humbling. Each meal was in a different restaurant and we couldn't fault any of these - The Kirkwall Hotel, Helgis, Lucano's and The Ayre Hotel - fairly priced and super quality. A fantastic time was had however it was not cheap when everything was added up - especially the price of the flights.
the sights are great as well as the locals! food at the hotel was good and would definitely recommend to friends and family on my next visit. please increase the stay time from 10 to 11 as we were quite tired and a lie in would have made it a 5/5 star review
We loved the friendly folk, comfort, kindness and superb breakfast. Accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Ideally situated for all the island highlights. We know the island well and have stayed in different types of accomodation - Corriemuir is definitely the best! It will be our first choice for our next visit.
Brough of Birsay-t ne hagyjátok ki. De sorolhatnám.Ide nem volt elég egy nap, legközelebb három napra megyünk,látni akarom a puffinokat is.(lundákat)
Warm and friendly people. Excellent base for visiting all of Orkneys Neolithic sites. Enjoyed Skara Brae and the Rings of Brodgar especially and also also the modern story of the Italian Chapel. Visited in May when the roadsides were awash with daffodils. Best restaurant we visited was Skerries Bistro overlooking the Pentland Firth which supplies the fish menu on a daily basis. Stories about roads being packed with traffic because Kirkwall is now so popular with visiting cruise liners were well off the mark when we visited in May. Would recommend purchase from Heritage Scotland of vouchers for visiting multiple centres as the entry costs do mount up!
Thankfully we hired a car to get around. Beautiful scenery and friendly people always willing to help. Roads are narrow though all drivers are courteous and pass at the designated places. Lots of eating places though, coming from Australia, we found food and restaurants expensive but of good quality.
