Yarm is an excellent example of a market town that still has shops, pubs and a selection of restaurants to choose from. Plenty of parking. We ate in Cena and Uno and drank in a couple of pubs but can’t remember the names. The highlight of our trip was a family meal at the Crathorne Arms which was excellent!
We were here for a wedding and arrived the day before and had to leave the next morning. We ventured into town for dinner and it was lovely with loads of little shops/ cute bars and pubs. It’s a shame we didn’t have time to explore futher.
A large town full of character dating well back in time. Lovely walk along river but can flood hence lots of flood gates . Lots of shops and cafes. Railway station and Britain's Garage gave us excellent service, repairing my tyre puncture. Locals very pleasant. Good base for branching out to local areas of interest. Plenty of car parking in main street.
Great for pottering around and as a base to explore local area, drive to the coast etc Went to the Butterfly Farm although chose not to go in as there was a Steam Punk event on in the museum next door - ideal photo opportunity 🙂
A delightful town that has obviously taken care to keep its character - there's a distinct absence of big name shops. Plenty of placed to eat, with a wide choice of styles. The main street is very wide and so we found parking to be easy; the space between the footpaths and the carriageway is sufficient for four lines of cars all the way along the long main street. The impressive railway viaduct which runs along the back of the buildings on one side of the town is worth a look, although we found it difficult to get far enough away to appreciate the full length. Even if you are not a railway or viaduct fan, it's difficult not to be impressed with the scale of the structure. As a variation to counting sheep to get to sleep, try calculating the number of bricks that are embedded in its arches!
Room comfortable, but not spacious. Meals excellent. Friendly and helpful staff. Were not impressed that the full cost of the stay was taken from our account on the day of booking, even though it was some time ahead of our stay. It is the only time when booking any hotel on line that this has happened.
