Horton Grange is situated on the Blagdon Estate, about 4.8 km east of Ponteland, a 15-minute drive from the centre of Newcastle and 6.4 km from Newcastle International Airport. Back again: I stayed here a few weeks ago. It's a very handy spot for Cramlington, Ashington and North Tyneside. I had one of the garden rooms again: lovely and cool on a hot evening. Good bar meal and Chablis by the glass. Would recommend: great for business travellers who want to chill out. Great value accommodation.

Room was decorated with taste and bed was so conformtable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast menu also offered vegan and pescatarian options and it was absolutely delicious. The place is great for a relax weekend in the country, Pontiland only 5 minutes driving from the accommodation.
Very clean and comfortable. Beautiful gardens. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Would have like more choice on dinner menu. On this occasion would have preferred something plainer. What we had was presented well and hot
Small uncomfortable room and bed. Did not sleep well for two nights. Fruit salad brown, no crumpets when asked for. Poorly kept bathroom and some lights in room did not work. Staff enthusiastic but not trained, e.g when husband said he was lactose intolerant was asked if he wanted butter on his toast. Sausage was of poor quality when in the countryside and could have sourced from a local farm. Not asked how I wanted my eggs e.g soft, hard etc when having a boiled egg. Rose on table dead, just lots of examples of poor attention to detail and caring.
For anyone wanting to visit this part of the world will enjoy the walks and the countryside. There are some lovely villages around this area. The hotel itself looks very pretty and well worth staying. I stayed only one night as it was to do with work. When I arrived, around 9.00pmish the restaurant looked pretty full - I didn't use the facilities as I was late. The reception is like an entrance to a Manor House and very pretty. It looked as if it is run like a small family hotel. They were very polite and pleasant when I arrived. The breakfast the next morning was disappointing as I am not a breakfast person but do rate a hotel on its quality of coffee. Unfortunately no one saw fit to come and serve me, even though I and another couple appeared to be the only ones there. I stay in hotels all over the world and it's the first time I was not offered this service as soon as I had sat down. Apart from that, I think anyone staying here may well enjoy the setting.
Excellent food in the hotel but venture out to the Ridley arms at Stannington it was superb and only 10 mins away! The hotel is in an excellent location for both the countryside and a trip to the city centre. The personalised service is second to none!
