Valhalla macadamia nut project! My husband Joneses for the macadamia nut pancakes between trips, Outside Antigua in San Miguel Duenas, easy Uber ride. El Delfin in Morterrico is a great beach stay, easy shuttles. Renting a car bring paper proof of insurance both liability (umbrella) and letter of coverage from the credit card company.

I really like Gautemala city and am always happy to spend time here when I'm travelling. There are lots of fast food places, or local places downtown or zona 4 has fancier/more expensive places to eat. The place is small enough that you can walk most places or get the transmetro around the town. There are museums and plenty of places to shop; especially dollarcity!

Guatemala has a variety of climates: It's hot on the coast, mild temperatures on the alta plano (the capital, Antigua, lake attitlan), and cooler at the higher elevations around Quetzaltenango (Xela). The police forces are active in reducing crime and any gang activity. I've lived here 7 years and have never witnessed a crime. I have walked dimly lit streets in many cities, including the capital, peacefully. Most of the food is healthy and grown in volcanic enrichened soils. The people are friendly and greet you warmly. Guatemala is my preferred Central American country. People fall in love with Guatemala and it's many cultures.

I love the food, weather, malls, beauty spas and salons and the views. I love going to Miraflores (a Mall), Eyebrow Design for Facial Threading and great customer service, Rebecana for body waxing, pedicures and manicures and doing groceries at La Torre.

Fantastic place to travel and very easy to get everywhere from everywhere! Very safe for lone travelling. Such a variety of things to do ( Acatenango is an absolute must! ). I spent 19 days and was the right amount of time for Antigua- acatenango- lake atitlan - semuc champey - Flores - Livingston - Rio Dulce - Guatamala city.
