It is back from the road and quiet for morning breakfast in the garden. The train station, grocery, and a pub with reasonably priced food is a 10-minute flat walk away. Finally and not the least important, I want you to know that Pat Kennedy can beat GOOGLE every time! He knows Kerry so well and was amazing in making our visit the BEST! We saw sights we would not have known to see.

The kitchen sitting area was the former pub but beautifully adapted providing everything you need whilst retaining many of the original features. The apartment is spotlessly clean and comfortable with good quality bed linen and towels provided. Marie is a delightful lady who lives next door who has excellent knowledge and recommendations for things to do and see. Parking is behind the property and also a very pretty garden . We had a most enjoyable week staying at Herlihy’s and would highly recommend.

The Hillside Cottage is a perfect getaway with great access to nearby towns and situated within 10-20 mins of both the Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula. Our family of four found the cottage quite comfortable. The cottage is a wonderful mix of old-world stone cottage and modern amenities. A well-stocked kitchen and washer/dryer allowed us to pack lighter and cook in most nights we stayed, which was a plus for us traveling with young children. In the evenings, the cottage is quite cozy no matter what the weather outside, with the wood burning stove (radiator also available and able to set to your comfort) providing plenty of warmth on a cold rainy night. The owner goes above and beyond in assisting guests with any questions or recommendations for the area and has little how-to guides around most of the appliances, which are extremely helpful for those who are not used to Euro standards. If you’re looking for a great stop as a base for western Ireland, look no further! We would absolutely stay again and again.
