It's a small city compared to where i come from, but its a really nice place. It has a magical and mysterious touch, at least for me. I like the city center and i totally recommend to go to Trakai to see the castle. The people are nice and friendly, they are quiet people but once you ask them something they change their quiet face to a happy face and start to talk to you. most of the young people speaks English so you wont have any issue because of the language, only with old people. I recommend to go to I recommend snekutis is a small food stall, seems shady and mysterious from outside but once you enter you will surprise about all the stuff they have over there, ohh and you should try Cepelinai meal. In a few words.. i loved it, i want to come back asap.
The market is worth a visit - big variety of local products: sausages, meat, cheese, bread. Restaurants: - Gabis - atmosphere, pay attention to original painted ceiling; herring and mushrooms in brine; mushroom soup - Lokys - try their beaver sausages and venison - Le Crepe - all the crepes and potato crepes with bacon. Yummy! - Shakespeare Hotel restaurant - duck! - Chocolate room - cakes and chocolate. Go to inside room to see the "chocolate room" - everything there done from chocolate. 30 minutes trip from Vilnius to Trakai - pay attention, the castle is closed on Sundays. Worth to eat in Karaim restaurant there - Senoji Kibinine: mushroom soup and a variety of ''kibinai' If you are crazy about shoes: there are 3 shoes outlets in the center: Vilnius st. 21 and 27, also Trakų st. 11. Last pairs of all the brands for very reasonable prices.
I really enjoyed my stay in Vilnius! Even though it was cold outside, I walked around whole day. There were three places that I liked the most : 1) Bernardinas park, I felt like standing on the top of the World, at the top of the three cross mountain! Beautiful view! 2) Gediminas castle - very hystorical place. There was a small museum in the castle tower. 3) And ofcourse my hotel, where I enjoyed peace and rest. :D Vilnius isn't a big city. I never used public transport during my stay, but it was very cheap. But BE CAREFUL with TAXIS! It was a good experience for me, I had a very interesting conversation with taxi driver. Don't get fooled, check the official traffic costs on the current taxi website, and then deal with the driver. Because drivers set THEIR OWN PRICES!
We loved the free walking tour which departs from the town hall at 12:00 each day. Our guide also advised about public transport to Trakai where we went the next day. The KGB museum was particularly interesting. We had some lovely food but would avoid the restaurant Grey in future. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go in central Vilnius and had no problem taking a bus to Trakai.
I was in Vilnius during my trip from klaipeda to Moscow so I spent there just one day. The Old Town is really worth seeing. Very nice people and the architecture is amazing. Vilius is a small town, and all the becessary places are close to one another. I can recommend Charlie pizza in the downtown area. Very freinldy staff and the food is delicious. Vero cafe and Coffee Inn are a great choice if you need to have a drinl of good coffee when the weather isn't good (it isn't good very often in Vilnius)
We have been to a great restaurant there. Its name is Appetitus restoranas. Here is the address: Pylimo g. 21,Vilnius 01141 I've had a pork steak with fried potatoes and vegetable salad and chef's sauce for just 6 (!!!) Euros. We have also had a pizza and a bottle of champagne. The staff is excellent. The bill was 25 Euros. It's a perfect place to visit and spend a night.

I've booked a double room but it was suddenly upgraded to a double loft for free. Totally loved it. Newly built hotel with modern equipment. Personnel is very nice, polite and helpful. I also can recommend their Fat Cloud restaurant in the lobby. Whenever I'll need to spend a night near Vilnius Airport I'll chose Loop Hotel again. Arrival/departure zone is 2-3 min drive and 10-15 min walk away. There's also a public bus available.
