Hotels near Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport - MRU, Mauritius

I came in with some reservation due to the wind that was considered to be a problem by other visitors. Some others were ranking the West coast over the East Coast (we were on the East Coast) but after visiting the entire island, we were very happy about our choice.

The city is not beautiful. It is good for accomodation and making trips from the base. There is no nice bar where to go for a drink during evening. There are some good restaurants and nice market. I would recommend to stay in Blue Bay if you can find affordable accomodation there.

Nothing was lacking The 2nd floor villa with a balcony view to the garden and sea was private with a superb vista it had a very well stocked kitchen with excellent cooking facilities. Every attention to detail had been given with pottery and art it was aesthetically pleasing. provisions were easy to get and at short distance to obtain. what wasn’t evident from its description was its peace and privacy which for us gave the restorative and restful holiday we required.

A lovely, underrated town in the less touristy South. We only spent one day there, basically to shorten the trip to the airport the next morning, but we discovered several little gems. My one complaint - it could do with some live sega music. We will definitely spend a few more days there on our next trip.

We had the privilege of visiting and staying in Blue Bay, and it was an incredible experience. Villa de Alisha holiday house was absolutely fantastic! Each room was equipped with its own bathroom, making it both convenient and private. The house was spacious, well-stocked with all the necessary cutlery and linen, and featured air conditioning in every room—a much-appreciated bonus in the warm climate. The highlight, however, was the indoor swimming pool, which added an extra touch of luxury. The only thing you need to arrange is your own food, as everything else is provided. Conveniently, there’s a shopping mall nearby with a large food court and various other shops. The restaurants in the Blue Bay area were another highlight of our trip. The staff at every venue were incredibly friendly, and there was a wonderful variety of food options to choose from. The Blue Bamboo restaurant, in particular, stood out with its vibrant atmosphere, making it a memorable spot for visitors. The flea market was another standout experience. It’s a pity it’s only held once a week, as there was such an incredible variety of items to choose from. I wish I had known this beforehand—I would have stayed much longer than just an hour! Getting around the island was also very convenient, thanks to the bus services available. Public transportation made exploring the island much easier and more enjoyable. Transportation overall was seamless, thanks to a reliable driver who was just a WhatsApp message away. He promptly picked us up from the airport, took us around the island, and ensured a smooth journey back to the airport at the end of our stay. One of the best parts of our trip was the Catamaran excursion. The crew was absolutely hilarious and kept us entertained throughout, making it an unforgettable adventure. Our time in Blue Bay and at Villa de Alisha was truly magical, and we can’t wait to return!
