Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Hotel de Campo is located in Caño Negro Wildlife Reserve in Alajuela. Free WiFi access is available in this property in limited areas. The location was beautiful, right next to the lagoon and river that floods during the rainy season. A great location for birding, and definitely recommend getting the boat birding tour that's offered. Food was great too. It's recommended to arrive from the North, rather than Upala, as the roads are better that way, although you can still travel slowly from the South with a high-clearance 4×4 vehicle when the roads are dry. Worth the trip, though; many unique birds are here and the surrounding lands. Bring a lot of cash beforehand.
Hotel in Caño Negro ( 16.8 miles)
Located in Caño Negro, 29 miles from Rio Celeste Waterfall, Natural Lodge Caño Negro provides accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. Super location. Every single one of the stuff was super friendly and accommodating. The owners are very eager to always upgrade and maintenance the entire property. The food is excellent, good choices. The stuff made us aware of animal sightings right on the grounds (sloth, monkey). Beautiful natural bird watching setup, great to take photos. Very relaxing atmosphere. The offered boat excursions were excellent. Great guides and a lot of wildlife to watch and photograph. If you like fishing - this is the place to go! We really enjoyed our conversations with the owners Marina and Pablo.
I am not happy as they have available slots online but when I reached to the Hostal Frank, no one open the door and we called them with the help of one local, they said they are full. We have heavy luggage, they supposed to improve their management
