Apartments beautiful and clean. Awesome to have the TV and aircon lol. The view was amazing. The pool was out of order for a few days which was bit annoying but can’t help it I guess. We got to use it for two days.
It's beautiful but very humid glad we had air con and a ceiling fan, I highly recommend hiring a little car or truck because of the roads and get a hand held fan lol you also need to get a sim to connect with the world best thing is is that telecom is open 24/7 and it pays to get duty free in new Zealand to take there as its quite expensive for alcohol, take lots of light clothing it's so hot and you will end up showering at least 3 times a day plus swims. The foods not to bad for its prices all meals mostly under $30.
Great area to visit or base your stay from. Locals bi lingual and happy to help. Pristine water with lots of fish life at jetty, with absolutely zero plastic seen in the water over 10 days... Island areas including Alofi are Largely green with coconut palms and under developed due to small population. Very clean and and safe area. Wife left her bag on a table and 1 hour later it was returned intact, not a cent missing... that won't happen when you travel in lots of other places of the world... Expensive due to high freight costs for everything but that's how it is... Definitely visit local markets to try local food... its safe and not too expensive. Monday, Wednesday and friday early mornings when the locals bring in fruit coconuts food and crabs to sell... Visit many of the local art and craft markets stalls around Alofi and the island for unique prints or handmade items... Not much mass produced in China Buy at least a couple of souvenirs to take home... Travel for the experience, not the cost... Niue around has the clearest, cleanest inshore water I have seen in 20 years of travelling... Swimming however is an experience, as there are not many easy beaches... Not sandy beaches here.. coral and limestone rock pools.. making water shoes a necessary and much loved item here, even the locals use them... Avetele is probably the easiest beach but most involve moderate to serious tracks and paths to access. Local govt has rated them on a 1 easy - 3 difficult and some only accessible at low tides, but be aware, plan and it is a great place to visit. Visit Niue and Alofi and experience the laid back life of the locals, learn a few greetings and enjoy the serene beauty of this, island nation nicknamed as "the ROCK of the Pacific...
Niue is a beautiful, peaceful destination with amazing untouched coastline. The people are very friendly and welcoming. The coastline is rocky, so don’t expect sandy beaches. The blue water over the shallow reefs is beautiful.
