The house was close to the airport, about 5 minutes drive. There are nearby restaurants and stores where you can buy food and other things. There was a washer but no dryer. The kitchen was nice, and it had a stove to cook.

Ruth & Antonio are absolutely wonderful humans. They open their home and their hearts when you stay here. It was a great first place for me to stay in Peru because I was able to walk from the airport to their home (in under 15 minutes).
There is a heater available if you need one, the bed was almost as comfortable as my memory foam expensive mattress at home, and there were plenty of blankets to stay warm. Delicious home made breakfast too!
The hot water has a learning curve, and sometimes the toilets do too, so if you can't figure them out, just ask, they are more than willing to help!
Things don't run as fast in this neighborhood as they do in the center, so if you want to immerse yourself in the actual cultural part of Cuzco, this is a great place to start.

Cusco is the most fascinating place, full of history and culture. Definitely it is worth at least a few days to explore the city alone, preferably a week. So many activities start from Cusco, great to make it your base.

We enjoyed walking down to picac town from the intiwatana at Pisac archeological site. The best part of the site was not in the part where the guides, taxi drivers etc want to take you.
Also we spent time at the sunday market in the town square.
Our hotel was in the town square which as great.

I loved the people, the food, the history and the value of my money… the San Pedro Market was awesome and the vibe in San Blas is right on!
What I didn’t like was all the lady’s asking to give a 20 sole massage (like 6$ US dollars) that’s too cheap to be good hahaha and the art peddlers really peddling magic mushrooms… like make me work for it and ask, don’t walk up to me and ask me, it should be that easy… but the non stop peddling of prostitutes and drugs was a little much

Pisac is a great place to acclimatize if you are coming into the highlands from Lima or Amazon basin. It is charming small town with lots of historical interest. Archeological Pisak is well worth spending some time on. If you are looking to acclimatize to higher altitudes, Pisak is a better starting point that Cusco because the altitude is about 1500 ft lower and it is closer to Sacred Valley attractions.

Machu Picchu is incredible, and the mountains near Cusco and the other landscapes are also amazing. What bothered me was the citizens who try to squeeze money out of you all the time. They only don't charge you to breathe because they can't privatize the air.

The Pisac archeological park is very interesting and takes 2 - 4 hours to see. Take the taxi up to the site and consider walking down back to the townsite through the park to see additional ruins.
Several good restaurants and coffee shops in Pisac. Easy to walk anywhere in town. Central plaza is a pleasant. Short drive from Cusco, could do as a day trip.
