Nothing special, poor beach quality compare to another world top rated resorts. Difficult to find normal size shopping malls. Traffic jams , but very good roads. Krasnaya Polyana and Estosadok are very beautiful , highly developed mountain areas both winter and summer time. Easy access to Abkhazia with more than beautiful beaches and very friendly peoples.
Beautiful weather. Favourite place we visited was Rosa Ski resort, although in August, ski lift x 3 was very good value. Hired a car, as public transport from airport was not very frequent. Beach was beautiful but all pebble beach. Very uneasy on the feet
Friendly, helpful people. Beautifull town with so many to enjoy and do. Would definitely try to visit it again. Much better than our experiences in St. Petersburg and especially Moscow where people tend to be very unfriendly and just rude.
Awesome trip to Krasnaya Polyana..Just catch a direct train from the Adler train station. An absolute must if you are in this area. Rock Bar in central Adler has awesome food and great service.. A walk down the Black Sea is perfect with plenty of Bar and Restaurant options.
Adler is the actual Sochi winter Olympics and F1 city also having the Sochi international airport in the city centre it self. So if you are going to Sochi to F1 or Olympics park, you are actually going to Adler. There is plenty of stuff in Sochi it self, but all that mentioned above is in Adler. So you definitely want to go to visit. Not to mention Sky park, which is 207 high bridge across the valley just few minutes drive from Adler. With several adrenaline rides of different levels starting with zipline - easy ride up to the 207m high bungee for hardcore adrenaline junkie. You take the Gett (local version of Uber), which is cheap, fast and reliable wherever you go around. There is plenty of great restaurants around, especially close to Kirova street, including the best one in whole Sochi area - called Vstrecha (Roof). Close to that is one part of the coast walk, which is almost 5 km long and is divided with river. It continue on the other side, where the Olympic park is and is very nice. We was even lucky to see couple of dolphins jumping very close around swimming people. The olympic park it self has plenty to offer, especially if you are going to visit F1 race. There is also amusement park with several crazy rides, giant Ferris wheel (which for some reason, we always called Russian wheel in my country, so this one is actual Russian wheel in Russia). Generally, we spent only 5 days, but this was terribly not enough to check even the main attractions. One week at least, ideally 2 to have time to properly walk around and discover everything this city has to offer.
This is the nearest place to stay along the beach with excellent bus connection (or taxi) to the ski resorts. (I only ski about every 3rd day, so the commuting is not a problem.) As ski season is low season for the beach, it is very inexpensive.
