It is about an hour's drive from Kampala - unless you travel in the very early hours of the morning when no doubt the road is quiet. Otherwise it is a busy road. There is therefore an advantage to spending a night in Entebbe before travelling on to Kampala - you have no choice but to go through Kampala no matter which part of Uganda you are visiting.
A visit to the botanical gardens is well worth while you can have a great tour with guides who know alot about the beautiful birds, animals flowers and trees. Feeding the monkeys is also fun You can also go on a beautiful boat trip on the lake as the sun goes down. On the journey you can see alot of birds, stop at the Equator and see superb views of the sun setting on the lake.
Staying at Karibu guest house in Entebbe is a must for when you arrive and leave Uganda. It is close to the airport and the people who run it are amazing. They will pick you up at any time of the day and or take you to the airport and the guest house is in a lovely location with superb rooms and facilities.
So much to do and experience; especially when guided by a local host. Entebbe has energy, vitality and so much that is so different to what you might experience elsewhere... Especially if you are from Europe!
The botanical gardens were very nice, a beautiful place full of interesting trees and animals where you can fully relax. Entebbe is a more touristic place in Uganda. You can stroll down the streets in Entebbe and enjoy Africa safely. Lake Victoria is nearby and gives a relaxing feeling. Also the markets full of fruits and vegetables, and the many people who make you chapati of rolex for no money. Café Javas, what you only find in Entebbe and Kampala, is very nice. Very good food for good prices.
Entebbe, as far as I am concerned is an airport! There is a town, but my business in Uganda took me up country. Entebbe was therefore no more than an overnight stop both on arrival at the airport, and prior to departing at the end of my stay in Uganda.
