The property is beautifully renovated from a 100-year-old house. It’s located in a quiet area of Odawara, yet just a few minutes by car to tourist spots and the beach. The mattress is comfortable, and the house is clean. The main living area might feel a bit tight for groups of more than 3–4 people, but for just the two of us, it was perfect. The house had everything we needed. Satoru is a kind and helpful host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Makkocho House.

Clean. Comfortable. Great location. Glad I read the reviews. I didn't use anything from the house because others had been charged extra for it. The owner was helpful, though neighbors were a bit surprised when I answered the door, as they were expecting the owner to live there.

Nice location, close to Odawara station, great experience of living in local Japanese house, all amenities available and big rooms as compared to hotel. The host was very quick for all responses and gave us all info in advance about the train noise. Being a train enthusiast we don’t mind the noise and we’re happy to see the train from the balcony. you could also hear the Shinkansen going as. The house has everything which is required for a long or short stay and better than local costly hotels. Would love to stay here again.

    We were a family with 4 adults and a child that stayed here and the apartment was spacious enough. It was well equipped and even had mobile chargers. The host answered our questions promptly and was genuinely helpful regarding our baggage arriving by post. The futon mattresses here were much more comfortable than some of the other places we stayed in Japan. Hayakawa station that has connections to Odawara was a short walk from here.
